Thanks Chui, interesting read.

Amazing that some of the ivory they are burning they've had since 2002 and it weighs about 5 tonnes affraid

Horrific to think that the ivory they are burning is a result of all the poor elephant who have lost their lives over the years to poaching Sad

All the groups I follow on FB reported on this yesterday - what a tragic day to think of all the eles that died.

Someone commented that it was not understood that the eles died when their tusks were removed, but that they shed them like teeth, hard to believe frankly and if that is the case then education is seriously needed. Do they believe the same with Rhino horn, it drops off and another one grows and then what about and tiger bones/parts ? I find the whole chinese ethos hard to stomach.

RIP poor eles whose lives were destroyed for mans greed and stupidity.

I agree with your comment about education Lai but with the chinese ethos i'm not so sure it's an ethos, I often wonder if it's more of an excuse. They certainly know what they are doing, they are not a dumb nation but I think they believe their dumbness, stupidity or wanten disrespect is ok as long as they put it down to historic beliefs when in actual fact it's all fairy tale. They are just barbaric and their acts are despicable.

All those poor eles, my heart aches for them. I agree that in future ivory should be burnt where it's found to send out the message that it is not tolerated......personnaly I would rather something else is burnt but I had better not say what!!!!!
