Being a grown up Empty Being a grown up

I did a grown up thing today and I made a will, Ive been trying to get my mum to make one for ages because her and her long term partner aren't married and I realised that I am pretty much in the same situation and am not practising what I am preaching.

I would like to say that I don't know if its because I found a great firm of solicitors but it was such a painless thing and its put my mind at rest. I think thats because apart from major decisions I just put that my executor gets to makes decisions on what happens to my person stuff (apparently now know as chattels)

Has anyone else on here done this and found it as easy and cathartic as me?

I've got to re-do mine as I'm about to get married and so it's all irrelevant - thanks for the reminder PPH Laughing and glad you found it a painless thing.

My Mum has just made her will and she said it was fairly painless. She has been hassling me to do the same and frankly after having to sort all my uncles stuff and do everything through probate, it is a really good idea, I just need to find the time to do it and sort out whats what.
Well done you for sorting it PPH, it isn't really something we should all put off and anyone who thinks my next of kin can sort it and wills don't matter, from experience, it really is so much easier and far less stressful if you do leave a will, probate is a tough thing to sort.

Now I must practice what I preach!!!

We've been thinking about this for a long time now, but putting it off. You know how it is you really dont want to think about dying, but its going to come to us all. We are partners, and we've been together now for 25 Yrs. So we really should get this sorted. I've looked at doing it on line a few times, but I dont know if thats really a good idea. We will have to have some more thoughts about doing it. Thanks for the nudge PPH, glad you found it so easy
