Actually it's not too bad. The two little Owletts are huddled together behind the tree having a little sleep.
Darn it, it's stopped me posting pics again Mad

Just saw the Adult Owl bring some food in

In this one, its breaking the food up, and feeding it to one of the Owletts.

Not so clear on the Pics, but these little Guys are growing already

Well done WS, everytime I have looked and the owletts have been on their own, I have been hoping the adult would come in and feed them, but no luck, you miss the badgers but this was obviously meant to be your capture cheers

Just had a peek in at our owl family and the little owletts are really getting quite big.
They are just sitting in the pot at the moment huddled up to mum or dad.

sadly no picture, it seems when I snap with MWsnap it then wont allow me to post pictures scratch

It happens when I have taken a shot using MWsnap, when I then go to post it on site, the image hosting wont allow me to, it asks for me to log in and if I try to put my password for the site in it still wont allow me. However, sometimes if I log off and then on again I can miraculously post the picture, other times, if I just give up and then come back on later I can post.......I think the halloween gremlins are getting me early alien alien lol!

Checked our little owl family this evening and got a huge shock, apart from two gorgeous chicks sitting their alone, mum and dad obviously off feeding, they were left owl sitting a THIRD egg, yes it's there as plain as day, we are going to get another chick I reckon, this egg has not been there before, it's a new one. Another owlett is on the horizon bounce

Two little owletts egg sitting

A clear shot of one cheeky face

Re: Plant Pot Owl

Post  littlewid on Mon Oct 17, 2011 10:29 pm

If it's the egg we thought was there before WS, it has been well hidden, so I don't know, I imagine it might be a new one, the trouble is though, owl chicks are very greedy and can be bossy, we saw that before with the owls we watched, remember Tennis ball and beach Ball and one owl didn't survive. I worry that if this egg hatches the little chick wont stand much of a chance with the bigger ones, so after being all excited i'm now a little worried. But then again, if it is the egg from before, it may not hatch now but then I would have thought the mum or dad would have got rid of it. Suppose we just have to wait and see.

Yes your right it could be a worry, not sure how far apart they hatch the eggs. Maybe its something we can check on

affraid another egg, where did that come from scratch lol!

I found this:- "Chicks generally hatch two days apart, with the oldest chicks getting the most food. This ensures survival of at least a few chicks if food is scarce" on this

http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-owl.html

if it's any help :?:

Thats interesting Doogs, on reading the article it would lead me to think that it is either the third egg we thought may be there but couldn't see and it hasn't hatched, although I would thn be surprised it has survived wothout being smashed, or the food supply is very good and the female has laid another egg. We will just have to keep an eye on it and see what happens, Thanks for the link Doogs.

Well i'm not too sure about this egg now. I have been watching the owletts for a while and they are sitting where the egg was last night and they have been fooling around, I would have thought they may have smashed the egg if it was still there but I can't see it either.
I have justgot a nice pic of either mum or dad who has just flown in. Again I will post it later as it wont allow me to post.

Thats what I thought about the Egg. I remember it being on Springwatch with the Barn Owls that the Eggs were a few days apart
