I agree Doogs, I was amazed at how they went up and down so carefully and with ease. I guess they've learned the hard way perhaps, after all the mango tree was there before reception so nothing is going to get in their way Laughing

Hoping to sort my photos over the weekend and will try and post a SMALL selection. I am likely to get very carried away otherwise. Pete is very kindly buying me Adobe Lightroom for Christmas so at least I'll be able to tweak them a bit and make up a slide show.

Very big selection please. I just love seeing photos Very Happy the more the better.

It was great to read you describe all the ele's going through as a magical experience, as I was going to put it must have been magical.

Those photos are just fantastic! I love how they've allowed the ele's to continue wandering through on a route they would have used for years. Exactly how it should be Very Happy

That was the one I liked the most as well LW.

LP such great shots. I see the lioness has a cut on her nose, I wonder what she got up to!

The cub is just so adorable. You must have quite an album of shots. Keep them coming.

I am thinking of enlarging some photos Littlewid but didnt take them in RAW so not such how they will look.

You are right SM, we saw her when the cut had opened up again, to be honest with all those cubs hassling her and having seen another lioness mating with a large male I am not surprised she had a cut nose.

I think I had over 1000 but have been culling them What a Face Pete is being wonderful and giving me Adobe Lightroom 3 for Christmas so I can sort them properly and put together a slide show.

I've plenty to share - the lions mating weren't brilliant as it was right beside the vehicle Embarassed and with my big lens on I was too close What a Face no time to swap lenses as it's "wham bam thank you mam" so to speak Shocked

Not sure if I understand this right Lai Pai but are you saying if you take them in RAW it then converts the image to jpeg so you get a better definition of the picture?
It may be worth just giving it a go as it is and seeing what happens, at least it will as the picture was shot and true to the time of the photograph. I still think it's stunning.

Can't wait till you have your Adobe Lighroom so we can see a slide show of all the pics.

Found this definition Littlewid which may explain it better than I can Very Happy

Raw vs Jpeg

Unlike a JPEG, a Raw file cannot be used immediately and it takes up considerably more room - and most software programs will be unable to recognise it. Even so, for the photographer willing to put in some time and effort, it's the only one they will use.

Raw vs Jpeg: Conclusion

Few photographers will be inclined to process every image they take from a Raw state, because for everyday snapshots a JPEG tends to suffice.

For more critical work, however, and particularly for images taken under difficult shooting conditions, there are many reasons why you should be shooting a Raw file. The only tricky part is understanding which adjustments you need to make and how to go about doing so with your chosen software - but with a little practice this isn't out of anyone's reach

Next time I am going to try taking some Jpeg and some RAW - major problem is as it says "space" although I do have a small hard drive that I download onto every couple of days.

Two lionesses with 5 cubs between them - well fed and totally adorable. Less than two months old.

Oh Lai Pai. Those lion cubs are too adorable for words!! How sweet!!

On another note, we have blown up some of our safari photos, they weren't shot in RAW either and they have come out clear as a bell (or a giraffe in the case of the largest one) We've gone up to 30" x 20". We use Kodak Gallery or Photobox, really reasonably priced so if they don't come out as clear as you want, you haven't wasted too much money.
