World Wildlife Fund

WWF believes in a future where people and nature thrive.

Best known as the world’s leading conservation body, we’ve seen first-hand how wildlife, the environment and human activity are all interlinked.

That’s why our passion for safeguarding the natural world has to be backed up by other environmental action – tackling the global threat of climate change (through our big global campaigns like Earth Hour) and helping people to change the way they live to ease pressure on natural resources.

WWF is at the heart of global activities in all these areas. We have teams of highly skilled professionals working with governments, businesses and communities here in the UK and around the world.

E-mail received from WWF today re elephants. Please sign this urgent petition and share. Signatures needed by 3rd March.

We are approaching a huge turning point in the fight to save Africa’s elephants. Thailand Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is just days away from deciding whether or not to ban the trade of ivory throughout her entire nation.

We need your help to make that happen.

Earlier this week, WWF presented the prime minister a petition signed by more than 500,000 concerned activists like you asking her to stand up for Africa’s elephants. Her response: We will consider it.

That’s good news and a step in the right direction. It shows that decision makers will listen when people like you speak up.

But consideration is not the end game. Not at a time when tens of thousands of elephants are killed each year to supply the booming demand for ivory carvings and trinkets in Asia.

We have 48 hours to convince her to end Thailand’s ivory trade.

On Sunday, the prime minister will address representatives from 177 governments gathered in Bangkok to discuss global wildlife trade issues, including the elephant poaching crisis.

Urge Prime Minister Shinawatra to use this opportunity to stand up for Africa’s elephants and end Thailand’s ivory trade.

Sincerely,

Ginette Hemley
