More than 200 elephants slaughtered in Cameroon since January - massacre continues

http://www.wildlifeextra.com/go/news/cameroon-elephants.html

Will it ever end, before there are no Elephants left in the world

What an appauling story with a horrific picture of one poor slaughtered ele. So sad as well that as a result of this there are many little ones being orphaned and may die of hunger and thirst Crying or Very sad Sad

You're right WS - do we have to wait until the world has no eles left in it before this all stops Mad

Horrible story and news, and I can only think it is going to get a lot worse before it starts to get better again. Poaching is on the up and up and for a long as the Chinese etc are willing to pay a price there will always be people willing to poach.

It makes me mad, but it really saddens me so much that we are destroying all these wonderful animals.

I have been following this story over the past couple of weeks and I am still speechless! I so wish I could do something to help, but what can we do. SOS Elephants are meant to be on the ground in Cameroon trying to help. CITES have now spoken out about this!

http://www.cites.org/eng/news/pr/2012/20120228_elephant_cameroon.php

I can't help but think if they hadn't allowed the sale of stockpiled ivory a few years back (2008) we wouldn't be looking at such severe cases now! I hope they do everything they can to prevent more of this occurring!

Thanks for that link Anne-Marie.

Sickening and tragic are the only words I can politely use this morning - what a horrendous death for these beautiful eles and as ever mans greed destroying our world.

Thanks for posting the article WS - we all need to be aware of what goes on in this world, sadly.

I know Guys Sad , and I'd help you to do it AM. I sometimes feel a bit guilty at posting news like this, but I'm hoping the people who look in, and there are quite a lot when you look at the number of visits, although they do'nt post, will become more aware of the dreadful things that are happening, and more of them willing sign the Anti Poaching Petitions taht are put on the web

Don't feel guilty about posting it WS. As awful as the stories are they need to be out there for the world to sit up and take notice.
