Re: Kalahari Meerkats Web Cam
I can't believe it, I just logged in to the cam and there was a little Meerkat but as soon as I got the cam up to click, he darted down into the burrow then Garth who is doing the cam said we can hear them but not see them now so I am going to call it a day, please join us tomorrow 7.30 SA time, so looks like we have to wait tilll tomorrow morning but at least we know this cam goes off about 4.30 - 4.40ish our time.
Lets hope we have better luck spotting them tomorrow, I could kick myself for not getting the shot of this little one today.

Re: Kalahari Meerkats Web Cam
The commentary is brilliant isn't it Lai and these little guys are still foraging around. Apprantly it was so hot yesterday it left them a little tired this morning and they were late up and a bit slow to get going but since they have been up and about they haven't stopped.
This is priscilla a juvenille female
I have just heard they were chased by the Gosa group yesterday and that also led to a late start this morning

It's tough being a meerkat, they look so cute and really are ferocious little things. Nice shot of Priscilla Littlewid.
I could watch this cam forever, but then I loved Meerkat Manor

Re: Kalahari Meerkats Web Cam
I think Meerkat manor was my all time favourite programme Lai. This little group have had a tough time, there are eleven in the Gosa group and the battle was rather rough I believe but they are holding their own at the moment. There are four different groups of Meerkats in the area so I am sure some more battles will ensue, which is rather sad.
I watched this cam for a good part of the day, got interupted by my nephew and his dog Trev, then my sister and bro - in - law came round then my mum wanted to go and get a plant so I went and picked her up, but I have seen this for a fair few hours today, I just couldn't tear myself away from it, shame I am working tomorrow. Hopefully you will be able to keep an eye on them

Really looking forward to checking in on them tomorrow. Meerkat Manor is often repeated on different channels and I always Sky+ it and watch it again and again
I'll post some pics if I get any.

Re: Kalahari Meerkats Web Cam
Caught the commentary - whoever it was was resting in the shade, carrying 15 kilos in the heat and in need of a rest!
.............. he's on the move again, trying to find the meerkats, as he says 'needles in the haystack out there'. They are splitting up and heading south .... it's a nice walk through the kalahari from my chair though
Will check back later. It looks hot for sure.

Re: Kalahari Meerkats Web Cam
Been watching for the last 1/2 Hr still no sightings. One of the presenters just came back on, and started to say they had been unable to find the Meerkats, then an advert came on so I missed most of the rest , but at the end he sais they would be back to try again this afternoon, not sure what time

Re: Kalahari Meerkats Web Cam
Shame no Meerkats today but wonderful pictures of the Kalahari Lai and your right, it did look blisteringly hot there today.
They do move really quickly and it's hard to keep up with them, they were all over the place yesterday and even if the cam was in better focus on them I reckon it would still be hard to get great focus becouse one minute tey are there then they are gone.
I think the cam will be down by now as it runs till about 4.30 I think.
You are right Doogs, we need more hours in the day or to give up work......not an option so between us all we will get the cams covered but it's wonderful to have such a variety to look at isn't it.
Thanks for checking this one today Lai & WS
