The Highland Wildlife Park in Scotland has announced: "... in mid-summer we will be starting construction of a large off-exhibit Amur leopard breeding centre.  The point of this facility is to be able to produce leopard cubs that are not habituated to humans and so are eligible for transporting to Russia for the reintroduction programme."

ALTA The Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance:
"We are very excited to share the news that the plan for the reintroduction of the Amur leopard in the Russian Far East has been formally approved by the Russian Government. This plan involves many stakeholders including several ALTA partners and we are thrilled that we can begin working on making this project a reality. We are still at the very early stages but will keep you up to date as things develop."

According to Korkeasaari Zoo web pages the construction work in Lazovsky Zapovednik will start next spring, and selected Amur leopards from zoos will move in during 2017.

Isn't it great news!? We are no longer talking about decades but years.
