Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
As LW says thanks for all the info Chris, got a shot of one of the Sows, then one of the Piglets came into view. There's also a lot of pollen flying around tonight

Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
Hi
I appreciate that you guys are watching this. It took months to set it up. In the beginning we thought that the boars would be there briefly each night and we encouraged foxes and cats to play a part.
The sows have taken over. For the last 3 nights they have arrived in daylight 8.00 pm (uk time). You need to see them in colour , they are very striking. They now stay 4 hours and one of them dug out a bed and went to sleep !. This is just outside my front gate. The other night a friend of mine was watching the boars and could hear Britain's got Talent.
In daylight the sows are edgy and nervous. One sow will feed and the other stands guard
The vixen has returned, she has been on camera the last two nights, during the period when there are no boars around. Basically there isn't room at the waterhole for boars, foxes and cats at the same time.
I will put a second camera at another waterhole . Its created by a leaking pipe (leaking for 2 years)at the bottom of the garden. The boars wallow there every night and I'm sure all the other wildlife visit regularly
Best rgds

Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
Chris does the cam broadcast in day time ?. If so we need to work out the time difference from where you are, and the UK. It would be great to get some colour daylight photos

Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
Looks like I have missed the Vixen which is a shame but i'm pleased to hear she is back Chris, hopefully I will catch a glimpse of her tomorrow.
How lovely to have this all going on right outside your gate, your so lucky and I for one and glad you set up the cam and can't wait for the second cam to be set up.
At the moment the sows are feeding.

Chris just had a thought, seeing the little piglets by the tree behind the sow, I only realised they were there because they started wriggling around, but the sows really do feed as you say, so I was wondering what food you put down for them?

Its quiet at the moment. Perhaps it was Chris sneaking around looking for the Vixen LW

Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
Not sure if that is the Vixen WS, unless it's a Bat Eared Fox but it's a great capture
Just had a look in and no-one aroudn at the moment but i have managed to get an almost colour shot as it's still fairly light there.
There is lots of bird song going on though which is lovely.

They are not easy to capture but at the moment all the little birds are flying in and out and comin gdown to feed on the insects, it's so lovely to watch and the songs are gorgeous.

Missed them Chris, shame, would have loved to have seen them in colour. Got the sows on screen at the moment but can't see the little piglets.

Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
There has just been a little scuffle between these two. The one at the front, jumped up at the one who is now drinking from the water hole, I'm not quite sure what sparked the very quick scuffle but it may have been that the one drinking walked right into the area the other one was eating from, so it may have been food related or just two girls having a stress, but it was over in a flash.

Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
Great pics LW. I see Chris is on now, wonder if you know Chris, was that the Vixen I got a shot of last night. Or as LW suggests a Bat Eared Fox, the ears do look rather big, but I'm not sure if you have them in Spain

Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
This time of the morning is lovely to watch all the birds coming down to feed and listen to the bird song.
In this picture you can see the little black Bird but also there are a few other little birds, they are very light in colour so hard to say what they are but there are plenty of them around.

Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
This really is quite a nice cam in the early morning Lai, lots of birds around and lovely songs too. I couldn't believe the Magpie the other day, at least I think it's a Magpie.
I don't think I will be checking this so early at the weekends though and I would rather still be in at that time in the morning too in the week

Re: Iberian Wild Boar Cam
But you do a great job during the day Lai when I can't as i'm at work, so the evening is best for me and generally later in the evening as things are done here then. I love all the cams we have and just wish I had more time to spend on them.
Between us all though we manage a pretty good update on them all
