I Agree Littlewid - I love trying to keep up with all our cams and wonderful wildlife.

Thought I'd try and catch this cam early .... but all quiet at the moment.

Update on Wild Boar in Spain

Post  mangolink on Tue May 29, 2012 12:04 am

hi

All is well with our group of wild boar. The two sows still have their 8 piglets and growing and growing. last night at 1.30 they left and returned around 4 am with only 5 piglets. Tonight they are back with 8. I think there are possibly two groups of sows (1 pair of sows with 8 piglets and 1 pair of sows with 5 piglets). I will re run the recordings and see if they are different sows)

The vixen was losing weight rapidly and then we spotted a huge swelling on the lower jaw. It looks like the swelling has decreased.

An Iberian wildcat and a least weasel have been recorded drinking.

In the day time our camera is running but not streaming to the web. A common kestrel is killing sparrows at the waterhole on a regular basis .

Here are some youtube videos

Hi Chris

Thanks for the update on everyone. Sorry to hear about the vixen, it's good to know the swelling is going down so I hope she will be ok. Thats a lot of Piglets and now we know there are two groups we are going to have to distinguish them, I imagine they feed at different times? it would be lovely to see the wildcat on cam and the Kestrel too.

How have you got on with setting up your second cam that you wanted to get streaming as well?

Thanks for the video clips, I will check those out when I get in from work today.

Thanks Chris - I'll check out those links now.

Great clips, the first clip was wonderful but I particularly loved seeing the Iberian Wild cat at night, what a beautiful looking cat, as for that poor Sparrow, the Kestrel was so quick!

Loved the wild boar clip Chris, the little piglet that was suckling made me smile, he wasn't going to give up until he had had his fill, he was hanging on whilst mum was feeding and walking and then the little one who pushed his way through the other two from the front was comical and the bird song was fantastic.

The Iberian Wildcat was stunning and those eyes were amazing, loved it.

I will admit I didn't watch the Sparrow getting killed No No Sad

Hopefully Chris will look in again soon and answer some of the questions that have been asked, I imagine he must have been busy.

Just had a check of the cam and it's surprisingly light there, I wonder if they are virtually on th same time as us in the UK? probably too light for any piglets and their mums but there were two ground feeding birds but hard to spot them.

Thanks for the time check Lai, I wasn't really sure of the time difference.

There have been a few birds ground feeding this evening and it looks as if they may have had rain too, the ground looks wetter and a few puddles I believe and it's also a little windy there as well and the cam is a little blurred this evening, also too early again for the piglets.

Thanks for checking Littlewid.

I've decided I need to make a list of all the cams we look at and then check through them all as I am always forgetting one or another scratch

Lai I couldn't believe they got that close to the cam last night, it was brilliant and great to see so many of them there. I will try and find time this evening to check again, I am wondering if the fox is still around.

I must make a note to check this tonight, but I've just started another book Reading and tend to forget about everything else

I wonder if the fox is still around too? I guess plenty passes through all the time, it's just catching it!

Thanks for checking Lai, they have all arrived now but as you can see from the pics the pollen is flying around tonight and the pics are not as clear as yesterday but there is still a good amount of boar feeding.

I'm exactly the same when i'm reading a book Lai, everything else goes out the window.
It was really blowing with the pollen last night in fact at times you could hardly see the boar the pollen was so thick in the air.
