Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Well I'm back
Sorry I haven't been here for ages but a combination of internet trouble and just generally being really busy and the suddenly I realised I haven't been hear on ages.
I hope everyone is ok, apart from poor LW and her bad back, thats so horrible. My partner was having problems with his back a few moths ago and he went to have an xray and it turned out he has 2 fused vertebra in the lower part of his back. The Dr said that he was born with it and its lucky its taken nearly 40 yrs to start causing problems.
The weather here in the shires have been horrid but I've kept up with the swimming and its also been a good way to relax after work. Things have been a bit stressful as we were taken over a few months ago and even though I know my job is safe the work we're doing seems to be increasing and a few members of my team have left and are not being replaced

Hello PPH and welcome back, we missed you. Your poor partner with his back, it seems everyone has back problems at the moment, and it is one of the worst things as it affects everything you try and do.
Good for you keeping up with the swimming. Hopefully being the 1st April the weather will get better, it's freezing today a really icy wind. So pleased to hear your job is safe, but very sad for those who have lost theirs. Times are very tough at the moment.
Have a good rest of the day everyone. At least it's only a short week now.........

PPH is back. Was going to send out a search party Well done for keeping up with the swimming. We'll have to get a contest going between you, and Doogs Sorry to hear about another back problem, there seems to be more, and more Mrs S has been suffering lots of pain from hers for the last few years, and nothing seems to improve it. LW cant drive with hers, and also says it's really painful to even sit .
Short week for you Lai, but's been a long weekend working for me, but a day off tomorrow

Yeah these days people love their xbox and wii games. I think that card and board games bring people together a little better. Maybe I'm just old fashioned
Did you really eat an ENTIRE pavlova Lai? Or just a large slice?
Either way, you're entitled to some indulgence
With the bloomer, I am sure that there is the regular joke for when it hasn't risen as early as hoped, and then the cheif says, "oh it's a late one"
I can see that this image of Pete kicking the buns around in anger could be amusing. Not hysterical mind you. But then again we can't all be as mad as Mrs Kipia
But are you FINE now?
Good to have you back PPH! And wonderful that you have secure employment and that you are continuing with your swimming. I agree with WS about you and Doogs having a competition; also because Doogs loves a contest. Be careful; she likes to win at any cost
And what is it with backs? Must be the most problematic part of the body.

It's a very busy time for everyone it seems just now. The weather this week is fining up for us again, with days in the mid 20's. The nights have that winter chill to them, so it's a nice balance. I have to work tomorrow (Saturday ), but then have The Script concert that night, so really looking forward to it

More on that? Well I do not need encouraging!
I am hoping that they play at least a 15 song set. They have 3 ten song albums, so at least half these tracks ought to be performed. They have soooo many great songs so it's hard to imagine it being a disappointment. First song I am predicting will be The Good Ol' Days, as that is track one off their latest album. Six Degrees Of Separation and Glowing are epics off this latest album which must be played! Their second album is even better; the hits First Time, Nothing and If You Ever Come Back (not sure if that is what it's called) will be likely to get a run, and they are all terrific songs as is Faith & Hope (again could be wrong on the title) and Exit Wounds. Then there is The Man Who Can't Be Moved from their first album, their first big hit, 99% likely to be performed, and Break Even. Talk You Down is another gem. I am not sure if my mum is going to like it! I gave her their album to listen to, and she's listened to it, but just once! I don't really consider that 'giving it a listen' But if I get over their early enough tomorrow we can pump out the tunes maybe for a couple of hours before heading into the city (actually this will probably be unlikely as there will be football on and that is my parents religion ).
Oh my Mrs Kipia! The Galapagos islands You will have from ear to ear and so will we on the WAA when you share with us your photos

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Well it’s Friday again folkies I’ve only been in work 3 days this week but it’s certainly felt a lot longer than that as Wednesday I didn’t stop for one minute (that includes no lunch - had two slices of toast and a tin of soup all day ) from 9am to 6.15pm (Bingo after) then Thursday I didn’t get finished until 9pm (at least I got lunch yesterday though ). Today has also been busy but I am now in a position to breathe a sigh of relief at finishing the urgent stuff that was required. Role on 5.15pm for a or two
Enjoyed my loooong weeked off and the highlight was seeing my fav group Simple Minds on Monday night, they were excellent. We managed to squirm our way to second from the front for the second half of the show so that was good
Never heard of the card game 500 before GR, new one to me No I am not a parent, I had a wee chuckle at that ‘cause I am probably one of the least maternal people you will ever come across !! My maternal instincts lie with four legged furry things ! Also never heard of the band Angels & Airwaves, are they Australian ? Looking forward to hearing how the Script was.
Glad you also have my ‘win at all costs motto’ Lai Can’t believe that’s your Galapagos trip coming round already, how fab. How long are you away for ? Is that a long flight ?
That was good you were too inconvenienced by not having your car WS. Hope you enjoyed your Easter Weeked with your friends even though you did have to work at the pub
Oh my goodness re LW, poor thing. She really should be more careful when she jumps off the wardrobe !!! Seriously, that is not good news and I hope she geels better soon.
Good to have you back PPH, we definitely did miss you. Hope the internet problems are now all sorted out. Another person with back problems, not good Great to hear you are keeping up with your fitness regime
Have a good weekend everyone. Are you having a wee bet on tomorrows Grand National ???

Doogs, you are working way tooooooooooooooooooooo hard at the moment, so I'm glad it's only a short week! Enjoy and relax over the weekend. Glad you enjoyed Simple Minds.
Yes I took my mum to the bookies this morning and we've all put bets on. She did a couple of horses, I've done one for Pete and 4 for me well hey it's one of those races and anything could and does happen!
We fly on Wednesday Doogs and come back on a Monday so quite a long time, only 7 days actually on the boat but a couple of days in Quito at the start and a couple at the end as we can't get the KLM flight back on the Sunday. I imagine it's quite a long flight similar to SA or Zambia maybe, must have a look.
Have a great weekend everyone.

OMG Lai the Galapalos islands, v v v jealous
Today I saw something absolutely amazing in work, two days ago someone in work noticed a juvenile buzzard sitting on the fence of the field outside our office. Absolutely amazing but today the buzzard came back and ended up in a fight on the ground with a magpie, as if this wasnt enough two crows then decided to mob the buzzard as it was having the fight with the magpie.
I'm hoping that as it is spending a lot of time in the area then it may be looking to set up a territory which would be good for me as I can see more of it but I am worried about the that live around there but also about it being hassled by the crows and magpies

Sadly buzzards get mobbed by the crows/jackdaws/magpies and they are such beautiful birds.
Lovely that you have a juvenile to watch at work PPH, that would be very distracting for me
They do like as well as earthworms, small rodents and carrion so it will be fascinating for you to see what happens.

It sounds like apart from the magpies and crows it might have chosen a great place to start a territory. The office where I work is next to the M40, its in the corner of an industrial estate and inbetween my office building and the next one is a field where there are tons of bunnies and most probably small rodents.
There are also loads of fields on the other side of the motorway so lots of potential food there

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
It is sad that they get mobbed, but the other Birds are just protecting their young, and their area. We had one land in our back garden then move to a tree just over the back fence. It was mobbed by not only a Magpie, but a male Blackbird as well. The Blackbird had young in a nest in the hedge at the side of our graden with 4 chicks, so you could'nt blame it for having a go at the Buzzard. Sounds like a really good site for it to establish a territory though PPH

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
What a great day for spotting wildlife. We went to the heronry in the woods and saw one on the nest and lots of other nests. We'll be watching those soon. Then we saw 3 hares (through the binos) chasing each other round for 10 mins, and as well as that we saw the Lapwings, which we've not seen for ages. So a huge smile. Spring is finally here, although I've just the weather forecast, so maybe not!
Hope you've all had a great weekend and enjoyed the great weather.

Mega !!! LW is back!
How did everyone go with their horsey bets (if placed)?
500 is awesome Doogs; you don't know what you've missed! It's mainly about the joker and the bows (bows are the jacks). Anyhoo, maybe explain more when I have time!
"My maternal instincts lie with four legged furry things!" Probably same here
Angels & Airwaves are from America, led by Tom Delonge, also singer for Blink 182. A&A are much more mature (and lovey dovey ) than that punk act though!
Just popping on here briefly to get my WAA fix. Had no time at work on Saturday and then it was folkies and concert and cycling (Paris-Roubaix) rest of weekend. Write more later as I am not really meant to have a 'morning tea' break
Oh, The Script were awesomey!!!!

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
That is incredible with that Lai!
And a most definitely applies!
I guess your holiday is paid for then
To make everything apt, I'm a little myself at the moment, following on from Saturday night. A cool thing about it is that I could sing/yell as loudly as I wanted without having my horrible vocals be heard (such is the noise around you); though it wasn't too loud with my mum and I sitting in the upperdeck. My favourite song Glowing was not played, nor was another fav Exit Wounds, but all of my other favs were, so it was a very good song list and epically meaningful and rather joyful concert. They must be the biggest 'relationship' band in existence though. Talk about heart-rending!
There was some amusing banter that took place away from the music (and they sound great live) such as a crowd surfing woman being called out by the band and being taken to the stage where she received a kiss from the lead singer Danny (no doubt that 10,000 other screaming girls in the crowd were rather jealous ), and the guitarist was saying, "you are so lucky you're hot otherwise he would have had you off the stage in two seconds", and then, "get a room, we've got a show to do". At one point Danny was joking that there would be at least one guy who is not happy he's there, that his girfriend dragged him to this Script concert. "But actually they don't sound too bad" And then just before they did a break up song he asked for someone in the crowd to give him a mobile because they were going to call an ex! So those in the front are showing him their phone and people/numbers, and what cracked me up the most was when Danny goes, "That says mum!" But in the end he did grab one and feigned (I gather ) this phone call to 'Chris' and then sang the song Nothing. Another really good thing about the night was the first act, who was an Aussie signer songwriter named Sinead Burgess. I had never heard of her, but she was amazing. There was one song that she played called Three Words, and it was just a song that I instantly loved, and it's very rare to absolutely love a song on a first listen. She played guitar really well and had an awe-inspiring voice of raw power. I am definitely going to get her CD next time I go into a music store! Even mum liked her (she is not as big a music fan as me)! And she quite liked The Script too. Even on the way home we listened to more of them Oh, and I thanked her for being my date

Evening everyone, hope you all had a good weekend.
PPH, that was some fight you witnessed !
That was a certainly an interesting 'nature' day you had yesterday Lai. Great that you saw some Lapwings, I am right in saying they are not that common, yes ? (you know me and birds, it's not my strongest point). HUGE well done with Auroras Encore - nice one and such a good price as well - Dawa Doogs are on you Great to see a young Scottish jockey winning it although the poor lad fell yesterday at Hexham and was airlifted to hospital, thankfully he's not badly injured. I managed 6th place e/w at 100/1 (only one bookie paying six places and I picked the right one ) so I got my money back with that payout.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the Script GR, thought your might. Nothing like a good sing along at a concert when no-one can hear how bad you sound - yes that goes for me as well Sounds like the band were really good with the crowd which I like. You're mum would be the most reliable person to go on a 'date' with, well done you for taking her Thanks for the info on Angels & Airwaves.
That's the best way to not lose any money on the horses WS, don't bet !!!
