OH NO, Not Benjamin Bunny affraid he would surely eat them affraid trouble is they can't stay in the polytunnel forever No No maybe you are going to have to take your chance because even if you plant them in a big planter BB will just jump in the planter and eat them http://i77.servimg.c

I remember one of my Rabbits, Felix, jumped into one of my pots and ate a new plant I had brought that day. At the time it was an expensive plant for me, it cost £20 (wished I could remember the name scratch ), I wasn't cross with him at all, he had had a wild old time eating it but I do remember thinking " Ah Felix!!!! that just cost me £20 you monster", I soon learnt how to Bunny proof most of my plants from then on but he still managed to get a fair few leaves of the plants.

Hope you do manage to get yours planted Lai and fairly safe from BB.

They'll be out soon Littlewid, but we are a few weeks behind you with our north south divide and being degrees cooler. We've also got a wigwam thingy for some to grow up and I'm really looking forward to that.

Felix sounds like he was a real character Littlewid - bunnies just love to munch on our best plants and shrubs flower

I forget we are a little warmer here and I must admit yesterday and today has been really hot. Looking forward to seeing them when they are planted Lai.

I think a snail or slug has been trying to have a nibble of mine so I need to see what I can do to protect them, especially the new shoots, I dont want them all nibbled but I cant see the culprits at the moment but it has to be a sneaky http://heathersanima or a slug What a Face

Re: Mrs S's, Lai's & Littlewid's Pea Off

Post  littlewid on Sun Jun 02, 2013 4:16 pm

Today I went to the garden centre to buy a nice plant for my back garden as I wanted some colour until all my seeds grow up and flower and also waiting for the peas to come into bloom. Well I came across this copper tape that you put round your tubs to stop the snails and slugs crawling up them and eating the plants. I thought it was much friendlier than pellets that kill them and any other stuff you can buy, this just gives them a little kind of electric shock but no more than when we get static electricity, it doesnt kill us just makes us jump a little and thats what this tape does to them, it stops them climbing any further, they hopefully back off and go somewhere else, so I now have this round my peas and hoping there will be no more nibbles at the shoots etc.
Heres my peas today.

Looking a bit sorry after being nibbled but they are still actually quite healthy so I am positive they will be ok.

Post  littlewid on Wed Jun 19, 2013 10:15 pm

Really though guy's this is due to my plant from last year, I thought I had removed it all as I said but it sprouted really well and has been growing like mad. The seeds are doing well but they have a long way to go yet before they flower, so if I was just going on my seedlings, I would still have a lot of waiting to do.
This is a slightly prettier picture today.

I am so impressed, I went to check ours yesterday, and for sure I won't be posting any photos for ages, they are tiny shoots that look wizened and chewed and like they will never produce any flowers What a Face

Lai I am sure yours will come along, there is plenty of time yet. I am pleased the seedlings are doing well WS and looking forward to a picture update when you can.

I cut some of my peas yesterday and I have them in my hall, so it is smelling lovely. It has been so windy today and everything is taking a battering but i have more peas ready to flower although I must admit, so far they all seem to be pink.
