Re: BBC Autumnwatch 2012
Thanks for that PPH just had a look at the link and I must say it all sounds very exciting but I am upset tht it is only on for 4 days instead of the usual 4 weeks, I wonder why they have done that? they have made such an effort with a new location and all the extra cameras and ways to watch and keep in touch and live chat on the web cams, it all seems a shame to only run it for 4 days, I think a lot of people will be disappointed. Glad they are doing a Winter watch s well though, even though that is only for 4 day as well.

Re: BBC Autumnwatch 2012
Thanks PPH. Thats a strange decision as you say LW to spend all that location money, then only run it for 4 days, and it really is very disapointing. Something that a lot of people enjoy every year, will feel really let down.

Autumnwatch
Apparently the BBC's excuse for only having Autumnwatch on for 4 nights is because they are also having a Winterwatch which i don't think anyone has actually asked for!! I find it ludicrous that there is so much going on over Autumn with bird migration, Animal hibernation and the Red Deer rut to name but a few and they think they can effectively cram all this into four 1 hour episodes. Very Poor indeed BBC!!!!!!
While they continue to offer rubbish on a regular basis they obviously find those types of programmes more important than teaching people both young and old about factual events to do with nature and also about endangered species and what we can do to help. You can see why people complain about having to pay for a TV licence when they act like this.

Hello Pete14n
Thanks for coming on and posting, it is lovely to have guests leave their comments and joining in with the chat.
I agree that 4 1hr shows is not enough especially with so much going on as you say in Autumn, I just hope the programmes aren't going to be so overloaded that it all becomes a jumble and just a quick look at something.
Winterwatch will be nice and not something they have done before. I don't recall it being asked for either but I am pleased they are doing a Winter one as well, I just wish it wasn't at the expense of AutumnWatch.
I imagine the BBC would say they are actually offering the viewers more by doing it this way, which in a way they are but they are also spoiling something a lot of viewers really love to watch.
They dropped Big Cat Diary/Big Cat Live for financial reasons which I and many more think was a huge mistake and now they are messing with another great watch in a time when as you say they should be encouraging people to take an interest in wildlife.
So many programmes are repeated on the BBC , they could save a lot of money by cutting them and putting it into a full 4 weeks of Autumn Watch and recommission BCD/BCL
Some would say we must be grateful that they are trying to extend the seasons of "Watch" rather than cut them altogether.

Re: BBC Autumnwatch 2012
Thanks for posting on Autumnwatch Peter, and I completely agree with what you've said. The excuse is complete rubbish, they've had a Winterwatch on any way for the last two years. As a licience payer, it makes me mad that they put so many dumbed down programes, and repeats, instead of something thats real life, and educational, that also has a benificial effect on the invironment we, and the wildlife live in, and encourages younger people to take an interest in the animals we live with, and care about

do you know I am sure I posted on here yesterday saying i'm sure we can help you catch up Doogs but there is no post, am I really going that mad :What: don't answer that WS
Glad you found it on iplayer Doogs
Loved the programme last night and fantastic to see the Pine Martin and I am glad they are trying to identify them. I am plesed they have the stump again as that was brilliant in SW and what about the toad catching the fly, just fantastic.
I thought it was less jokey and more together last night and I loved it, roll on tonight
Loved that little video clip WS, a really busy feeder and isnt the scenery spectacular.
