Re: Giraffe Cam
Thats a lovely video WS. I love the way Kiko just stands still on the spot for ages, he reminds me of an ornament sometimes, he just stands there as if he doesn't quite know what to do I am sure he has grown but next to Autumn he still looks so tiny doesn't he.

Re: Giraffe Cam
Thanks WS, that's a lovely clip of Autumn & Kiko.
LW, he definitely still looks tiny compared to mum !!!
Managed to get a couple of shots from the Paddock cam.
Not sure which giraffe it is but it looks too big to be Kiko . . .

Re: Giraffe Cam
Not too sure who that is either Doogs but it does look like Walter, he is a little slimmer than Autumn I think, lovely pictures though, I like seeing them in the paddock.
Our little Kiko had just woken up when I looked in and he was just getting off his mat.
He stood there for a bit, had a stretch and then went back to his mat, I thought he was going to lie down again but he stood there in his very still pose

I don't think it was Walter either LW, seemed too small for him but too big for Kiko
Nice pictures of the little man waking up this morning

Re: Giraffe Cam
It's a bit difficult to judge from the camera angle pointing downwards, but it does'nt look tall enough for Walter so it's a mistery at the moment . It really is funny how Kiko stands so still for long periods, sometimes I think the cam has frozen, but it is like he is posing. Great pics Doogs , and LW.

Mmm wonder who the mystery Girrafe is just had a look in and Autumn and Kiko are in the paddock but sadly they didn't come too near the cam so the picture is rather dreadful but at least they are outside nd hanging around together.

at this quote!
This Autumn really seems to have had a good sense of theatre. I bet it's worth the wait though! I will continue to scroll through this thread.
That is a really cool starish sign that she has as a marking.
It is amazing how up to date you all keep with anything animalish going on! WS, LW, Doogs, Lai; are you all constantly on the lookout for animal news online to post? It must be a lot of work, though I guess to you, it's a labour of love

Re: Giraffe Cam
Well I have finally taken in my first giraffey birth! I wonder if it is normal for the newborn to stay so lifeless for so long? But he got going quickly enough
Yay!
I think that Autumn will never make a good model, and not just because she eats too much She just isn't much of a poser it seems. Kiko on the other hand already has the modelling caper down pat
On a side topic, we have giraffes out our open range zoo in Werribee (not too far from the centre of Melbourne). And apparently they are treated like royalty, spending their evenings in these enormous sheds which have lovely heating! Because giraffes feel the cold a lot, I heard? But nothing can be too good for a

Re: Giraffe Cam
I think little Kiko's birth made us all hold our breaths for a while, I know I certainly did as the little fella seemed to take an age to get going but he seems just grand now
Glad to hear your giraffes are well treated in Werribee GR. I'm not sure about feeling the cold, perhaps they do but I know evenings in the Mara can be very chilly and they still get by.
Took this just now. I think this is our mystery giraffe in the foreground 'cause you can see the legs of Kiko and Autumn (?) at the top of the photo . . .

Re: Giraffe Cam
Perhaps the Werribee Zoo giraffes just got used to all the pampering, and therefore couldn't handle even the slightest chill now
"You've been a bad giraffe. For that we are sending you to Britain!"
"Oh no, but there is no Mr Yellow there. How will I ever get by?"
"Oh do not worry my giraffey pal. I've heard they've started a petition, to have Mr Yellow moved off the endangered species list."
Well, there is my little bit of craziness for today
And thanks Doogs for the Kiko updates

Had a look at the Cams just now and managed to capture this shot. Looks like the mystery young in the foreground and if you look in the background there's little Kiko soaking up the today
