I suppose this could have been put in Animals of the world or British wildlife. I thought though that this needs to be thought about. Some people will have some views, some being strong and some not caring. I was a vegetarian for most of my life but for the last 8 months I have a vegan diet......However, whether I was vegetarian, vegan or a meat eater, I would not condone this kind of treatment to animals. We have seen it in many species of animal that are used for the meat trade and whatever species it is, it deserves to be treated with respect. All life should be treated respectfully but animals giving up their life to feed the human race surely deserves respect. I have a huge passion and compassion for all animal life and if I was a meat eater, I would like to know that the meat on my plate was killed in a human way and respectfully and not treated as an inanimate object. I am not raising a debate/discussion over the killing of animals V's the killing of humans. It's also not a post about airy fairy veggies/vegans V's meat eaters. It's about do people really care about the food on their plate or the food that goes to feed our pets. Have people thought about the animal food trade before, or is this the first time they have thought about it. I could never eat any animal but that aside, I can't abide cruel, barbaric treatment of animals just to fill the human stomach.

That is absolutely disgusting, yes the worls needs low cost food, but not at the price these chicks have to pay. In this day, and aage there must be better ways to do this, its just like an industrial assembly line with faulty parts just discarded without any thought, or feelings. It needs some sort of labeling to show which chickens in shops come from this process. Although I am a meat eater, I would gladly pay more for a chicken that is processed humanly, and if I couldn't afford it I would rather not buys one than see this sort of suffering

I Agree WS, I think we should know where our meat is from and how it is processed and by who. That may be one of the ways this would not be allowed. There will always be some who really don't care but there are a lot that do care. I have nothing bad to say about people who choose to eat meat, its our own preference but I do think people should care how it is produced and how the animals are treated.
This link was just one of many that we read about and many animals suffer for the sake of food and it is not necessary for this to happen, not in this day and age. However, I also depends on the persons morals who are working in this side of the business. I would like to see a huge change but sadly it seems that article are printed, there is a huge shock about them and then it's forgotten until the next article comes along.

Thanks for replying WS
