A fantastic video WS and a great link also. I can tell you I have always loved Snow leopards, hence adopting one, but my love of them is fast becoming a huge passion, they are just such amazing animals.

Loved the other videos too on the link and your right Cremecat Nubo is a real Like a Star @ heaven and how could you not fall in love with him I love you

It would be nice to keep an eye on these too.

Cremecat that is such a beautiful video, I got so excited by it I nearly forgot to sign in to post Very Happy they were just so cute and to hear them making their little noises over the meat was just brilliant.......I wonder if it being covered in straw made it extra tasty!
Tara is just so beautiful isn't she and she was just letting the cubs get on with it. I really enjoyed that, Thanks Very Happy

WS, that was an amazing video! The best thing in it was seeing snow leopard in its natural habitat.

WOW WOW WOW
Guess what! The snow leopard male Wolfgang at South Lakes Zoo, who is expecting a girl friend from Helsinki later this year Razz - I just realised that I met him last summer at Salzburg Zoo!! bounce

I read from Salzburg Zoo's webpage that two young snow leopard females have just moved to France, and that their brother moved to South Lakes Zoo earlier. That would, of course, be Wolfgang! I love you

Here he is with his sisters (and maybe mom; the cubs were already so big that it was impossible to see the difference):

It's a small world, isn't it?! Shocked

That's a great video from the Snow Leopard Trust WS, a few sad bits in there but wonderful to see the work they are doing to help protect the Snow Leopard. Also as Cremecat says, it was so nice to see them in their natural habitat as well, to see them running across the snow was just lovely.

Cremecat, how bizzare is that , seeing Wolfgang before and getting those pictures, you must have been delighted and as you say, a small world.

Tigers have always been my favourite big cat but the Snow Leopard is right on their shoulder.....they will never take over but there's only a hairs breath between them I love you I love you

Re: Snow Leopards

Post  Cremecat on Tue Feb 12, 2013 8:08 pm

Last Saturday at Helsinki Zoo:

As we were special guests (or at least I felt we were), we were allowed to follow the keeper when he prepared and delivered the food for the Snow Leopards. We climbed up to the snowies' private enclosures, and one by one he called them in so that he could go out to set the food ready for them. Meanwhile we were up there with the leopards! I love you There was a fence between us and them, but they were so close that we could have touched them.

One of our Estonian guests was a lady who has been working at Tallinn Zoo for 50 years Shocked , and she was amazing! She has a special talent as she knows how to communicate with animals; I guess she is a kind of animal whisperer. She spoke to each species in their own languages, and the animals were clearly interested. They looked at her and came closer to her - even the otter came to her when she called it.

We met Valma first:

Valma has not had any cubs yet because she does not get along with Erkhet at all. They may have to find her a new place for breeding.

We went to see Erkhet next (sorry about the quality; he was so close to us :) ):

Las but not least: lovely Tara and her babies!

I was so happy!

Yes, the Babies! bounce

When we went to Tara's enclosure, we could not see the babies anywhere. Then the keeper opened a small hatch, and we saw this:

The cubs were hiding in their nest; the one in front is Eloisa, Eve is behind her, and Esha has turned her back to us in her shy way.

So we left them and went down to see them come out for lunch. It was snowing heavily, as you can see:

Here is Eve with her lunch:

Esha trying to hide behind the fence:

Eloisa came bravely to meet us:

Aren't they adorable!

How lovely to have the lady who worked at the zoo with you Cremecat, your own Animal Whisperer Very Happy you really did have such a wonderful visit didn't you.

Valma is just adorable, in that picture she is looking up at you and it's beautiful. What a shame she didn't get along with Erkhet, their cubs would have been so gorgeous. Erkhet is a handsome fellow and he has really gentle eyes I think, they are lovely pictures of both of them.

Favourite pic is of course is Tara, what a stunner she is, simply beautiful and yes you did forget something................................ THE CUBS Very Happy

we posted at almost the same time Cremecat. What beautiful pictures and brave Eloisa coming up to see you, that is a magical picture but I must say Esha & Eve are little stunners too. How lucky have you been, I am delighted for you, even if I am a little green with envy Very Happy and isn't just brilliant to see the Snow Leopards in Snow, just how it should be.
You have such a fantastic collection of photo's and what a day it must have been for you, one you will never forget I am sure.

That must have been a really exciting experience to meet all your favourites CC, and the photos are lovely. They really show the characters of all 3 Cubs, as you explained earlier in this thread.

See what a fun video of the snow leopard cubs Mileedi and Orlando at Tallinn Zoo!
They are two months older than Eloisa, Eve and Esha, and their start was quite sad one, but look how happy they are now:

Cremecat that was so lovely to watch, I watched it with a huge smile. It was so nice to see them having fun in the snow and the ball with the stars was definitely their favourite ball but it made me laugh to see them trying to tackle the big blue ball!

I was watching it though with the thought of do our domestic cats play like big cats or do big cats play like Domestic cats......or are cats just cats scratch

I visited the Zoo again on Saturday. Wink It was cold(ish) but sunny, and I got some nice photos to share...
The Snow Leopard family was outside, playing, running and offering us full entertainment for the couple of hours we stayed there. The girls are sooo cute, and the Mom is just adorable. Every time I see them I love them more and more! I love you I love you I love you
