VILLAGERS in Mushumbi Pools in Mashonaland Central are living in fear after a pride of about 16 lions killed livestock in the area.

Officials from the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority are still tracking the predators and are also campaigning for the relocation of the villagers.

This shows how villages settling in wildlife areas bring animal-human conflict. This is a very sorry situation were no-one wins!

That is very sad indeed but it will happen all the time people are encroaching on the animals territory. Space for the animals and the people is always going to be an issue but to locate people right in the heart of a pride of Lions territory is asking for trouble.
I hope the villlagers are relocated somewhere safer for them and that retribution isn't carried out on the Lions, they are after all doing what they were born to do, so also lets hope the villagers now take steps to keep their livestock safer at night.

Encroachment into Lion habitat will cause conflict everytime. There just does'nt seem to be any planning or co-ordinated effort to avoid this happening in the first place.
