Welcome back LW your presence has been sorely missed!!!

Hopefully as you say your problems are behind you and let's hope they stay there, I have really missed your cheery posts.

If you have a chance of taking early retirement, I would say go for it. I did and I don't regret it for a minute. I loved my job but not the never ending politicking and in-fighting of modern business. Obviously money is always a consideration but it is amazing how little you can get by on once you try. All my spare cash is spent as you well know goes on safaris and everything else has to take second place. I work on the philosophy of have fun now as you never know what is round the corner and nobody has ever said for their epitaph that they wished they had spent more time at the office!!!

Pleased to hear you have dusted off the camera and look forward to seeing some of your pics but remember to keep your battery charged!!

Don't worry about trying to catch up with everything just enjoy what you are doing. It has been fairly quiet on WAA for the last couple of months and I am as guilty as anybody else, being rather lax on posting about my last safari which I will try and correct.

Once again LW welcome back!!

Thank you for such a lovely welcome back SM, it really is so nice to be posting again.......and still being awake at gone 9pm to be posting Very Happy

You are so right with your philosophy and fingers crossed I will be retiring. I put in a pension forecast a week ago and it takes about 15 days to get it back so in a couple of weeks I should know how I stand. My job is so manic and presure filled it will be nice to be able to walk away. I love my job but there are so many other things I want to do and it does affect my health and now If possible I want to concentrate on my photography......well practicing it because that sounded as though I was a photographer lol! I also want to do more with my house and garden, spend more time with Nero and maybe get another Retriever puppy......that may be one of the first things I do as it will stop me jumping on the Retrievers round here, theres Tommy, Flynn and Ollie and Ted and bless them they are all so receptive of my demanding cuddles

I remember you saying that every spare penny went on your safaris so big shock here everyone......Emma, Tom, Lara, Kian and I are hoping to do a safari......maybe next year and as long as I don't have to have any live vaccinations as thats a no no for me.......I will keep you updated

That so made me smile SM about keeping my battery charged......Im a bit of a devil for forgetting but at least it was on full charge for Port Lympne and I needed it because I was after this one Gorilla shot and I was happy to stand there taking many many shots until I got what I wanted.... I think he knew what I was up too and he was playing with me Very Happy

So you have been on Safari again SM......im so looking forward to that post, your safari pics and stories are always so enjoyable, you have a real knack of making us feel as though we are there.

This week I am sure I will get my photos downloaded and get the post done. There are lots of pics I will get rid of but there are a few that look not too bad so fingers crossed they look ok when ive downloaded them.

Again thank you for the lovely welcome back.......im still smiling to be back cheers

Thank you so much Lai, WS & CC for the lovely welcome backs........it is sooooooooo good to ne back and posting again Very Happy

Lai I love the idea of us travelling the country taking photographs and rescuing unwanted dogs.........where do you want to go first bounce im up for loads of http://i77.servimg.c I mean its nearly 11pm and im still here lol!

WS you are deffo going to have to hunt those ear defenders out.......I am going to be on a mission for sure

Glad you are enjoying your retirement CC. Most people I know say they dont miss work and as long as my forecast is good I am off, I have already got my head around going and I am looking forward to it so fingers crossed all will be good.

So Lai does typhoid come in two straines? I will be ok with any vaccine as long as its not live. We are looking at Kenya or South Africa......but we are favouring Kenya but it wont be this year as Emma is off to India to do her yogo teacher traiing so it will more than likely be next year but thats ok as I need to get a passport.....mine lapsed years ago but I will keep you all posted.

Thank you again everyone for the wonderful welcomes, I'm really touched

It does Littlewid, last year I had live typhoid orally as they didn't have any vaccination left. It's basically salmonella affraid and it only last a year. I've just been and had the usual 3 year vaccination and it isn't live Very Happy so http://i70.servimg.c you'll be going on safari http://www.picgifs.c

Well thats music to my ears Lai Very Happy is it only typhoid you need for Kenya? We havent decided exactly where we will be going but we will be off but as I said probably not until next year because of Emmas yoga course in India......plus I need the important passport but I am just as excited knowing I can go and im sure I will be asking lots of questions like where to go and what to take and its also got to be suitable for Lara and Kian.

It looks as if my Port Lympne post will be over the weekend as the evenings just fly by.......where does the time go scratch

I hope everyones having a good week so far, today has been fairly nice but the weather is so up and down, one minute its summer and then next its winter........all so confusing with what to wear lol!

Here's a useful link

http://www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk/destinations/africa/kenya.aspx

it does look rather extensive and not all necessary.  I would recommend Yellow Fever as an addition Very Happy Also try and get them done in plenty of time before you go in case you have a re-action What a Face

When you're ready I am sure Safariman and I will be delighted to help with what to take etc

Looking forward to your photos

Thanks for the link Lai I will have a good look at it. Yellow Fever is a live vaccine isnt it so I wont be able to have that so may have to take my chance with that or steer clear of places that have had an outbreak but I will speak to my consultant about it......or I could just wear a permanent mosquito net lol!

Sorry I wasn't on yesterday but the Great British Bake Off started and im addicted to that, its brilliant and I love baking so I was glued to that and then contacting my friend in Canada who will be over here in 2 days time . its been 10 years since I have seen her so I am mega excited

I told my consultant that I work with today that I was definitely retiring im not waiting for my pension forecast im just going for it as I know it will be ok so on Monday I will request it officially through HR.....its so exciting......theres so much more to do than just work. I will be working over some weekends to make sure everything is clear before I go but hopefully in about 3 months I will be an early retiree

Yayyyyyyy Friday tomorrow........bad thing......shopping night

Post  Laikipia on Fri Aug 07, 2015 8:37 am

Good morning everyone.

Aha I hadn't realised that Littlewid, but it certainly isn't an essential one but good idea to ask your consultant for advice.

We watch that as well, it does make me laugh and we love trying to guess who is going to be voted off, this week I think it was an easy guess What a Face I wish I could bake like they all do http://i77.servimg.c

How lovely to see your friend from Canada again after so long, plenty of http://www.picgifs.c http://www.picgifs.c http://www.picgifs.c I am sure.

3 months to go is brilliant, what a relief for you and as you say so much to do and to see http://i70.servimg.c we'll surely have to meet up as I feel I need to give Nero a huge Group Hug

I'm off to London this afternoon to stay the night with Ali, get some camera practice in tomorrow, generally http://www.picgifs.c and talk about our October safari

I hope everyone else is enjoying the sunny it's degrees cooler up here but as i'm traveling south I shall take my shorts affraid What a Face Laughing

Have a great weekend.

ps badger vaccinations going well http://i77.servimg.c I went out with Jane yesterday afternoon to pre-bait and launched myself of a gate not realising a steep drop the other side, ooooooooooooh do I have a large bruise on my b** Laughing definitely a case of look before you leap lol!

thats so funny WS cos I reckon as soon as The Bake Off finishes strictly will start Lai and I are going to be excited but I reckon we're going to drive you mad lol!

I love guessing too who's going to go as well Lai but your right, this weeks was so easy but bless him he did try and he was taking it seriously....I felt so sorry for the lady whos mousse didn't set Embarassed .....I love baking and I have been making lots of cakes, all Gluten and Lactose free and they have been lovely and everyones enjoyed them.....one of my best is a real yummy Lemon Drizzle cake but I also do a scrummy orange or lemon victoria sponge http://i77.servimg.c

I will check out the yellow fever, I know some people stop their immunosuppressants for a while whilst they have it but thats a bit dodgy as you can go into a massive flare. I would rather go where its not required or stick to my mosquito net lol!

Oh yes we must meet up.....Nero loves Group Hug so you would be a friend for life.......how are Tamu, Kip and Rosie? We must get something sorted when im retired........Oooo that sounds good Very Happy

My friend is on her way, she posted pictures of them at the airport so it wont be long now.......so much to catch up on bounce

Good news that the vaccinations are going well, its all very positive isnt it.......not so good about your B** though No it did make me lol! though.

I hope you and Ali have a good time ......I wonder how much camera practice there will be over albino

I hope everyone has a good weekend, its supposed to be a sunny one. I know your working WS but if its any consolation im going in Sunday for a few hours, so you wont be a lone worker.

Have a good one though guys

Pheweeeeee WS it must be stinky in those Welsh hills affraid Give me Mary Poppins and her singing any day lol!

Well its been a scorcher here all day today and I think we are set for more tomorrow

I have managed to upload my Painted Lady pic and I have downloaded my pics from Port Lympne but explorer has been crashing here today so I haven't managed the post and its getting on now so I will have to try and get them done tomorrow sometime if that's ok with you all......sorry about that.

I also took a photo of Nero on my tablet ( im using my notebook at the moment) but I can't seem to get that from my gallery on to the site....I think it's me not the site for that one but i'll keep trying to see if I can get it done.......but don't hold your breath as that could be dangerous to your health

Hope everyone has had a good day and that you've all enjoyed the sunny too.

Have a good rest of the evening
