Hen Harriers face extinction in England
Hen harriers 'face extinction' in England as nests fail
This is such sad news

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23631385Hen harriers are close to extinction in England after the country's only two nesting pairs failed to breed, conservationists have said.
The RSPB said it was the first time the species had not produced a chick in England since the 1960s.
It said numbers of hen harriers, which prey on grouse, were being kept down by grouse moor managers.
This is such sad news

Re: Hen Harriers face extinction in England
Lai that really is sad news and I didnt realise we only had 2 breeding pairs and it was quite a shock to read it was the first time they hadnt produced any chicks since 1960. I know they say the long and cold winter hasnt helped but I bet its down to the grouse farmers as well. Lets hope next hear is a better year for them and the numbers increase.

I did know there was only two pair there was a post about it earlier this year on here. So sad they have'nt had any young this year, and I agree Grouse farmers at fault as you say LW. Money wins out again

They say money is the root of all evil WS and yes it can be for humans but where animals are concerned it seems to very much be the root of all evil in one way or another and it is just so sad.
