They have been mentioning this all day on our local radio as they say its supposed to hit the South very hard but then later this evening they said its seems to be heading for the Midlands. I hope for everyones sake it just dies out and doesnt cause amy trouble.

Strangley enough I slept through the storm of 87 but the devastation here was really bad.

Littlewid, that's amazing you slept through it all! I lived in London and it was total devastation for the trees in Hyde Park.

I am dozy, you are right WS Very Happy the first thing I new of the 87 storm was my dad coming into my bedroom asking if I had any matches or a lighter ( I was a naughty smoker at the time and oddly Lai had just moved back home for a short while from London), anyway I thought it an odd thing for my dad to ask as he didnt smoke, so I asked him why and he just laughed and told me about the storm and how the house was shaking and I just kept sending up the zzzzzzzzzzzz lol!

We had massive winds last night, at midnight it was a real hooley here and its very windy this morning, stupidly I thought the storm had come early and we would escape this evening but all the weather reports are that the storm is on its way for midnight tonight, so thats not good news at all.
Everyone stay safe and take care and make sure everything outside is secure or put away so it doesnt fly around and cause damage. Hopefully the farmers round here and everywhere else will have their animals inside and all horses will be stabled in secure stables and the wildlife will hopefully go  underground and lets hope the birds stay safe too, its going to be nasty by all accounts...........not sure if I will sleep through this one as I know its coming and im already a twitter about it affraid

windy and sunny here in the 'shires at the mo but rain predicted to start at lunchtime

dad and stepmum have postponed their visit in their caravan until the weather dies down on tuesday. the caravan park was really helpful and as theyve already paid they said that they wouldnt lose their money and if they wanted they could 'bank' a two day stay when they re open in January

lol!  Littlewid, I am laughing at you and your Dad, fancy being able to sleep through that What a Face Razz  I didn't know you had been a smoker silent  me too. I can't believe it now!

Just seen the weather forecast and hoping all of you in the south, south west and midlands will all stay safe. I think we're slightly better off up here although the wind is picking up now and the bird feeders are beginning to look like they may fly off.

That's lucky PPH, I surely wouldn't want to be in a caravan in the middle of a storm affraid

Fingers crossed the damage isn't as bad as '87 and that the animals and wildlife stay safe as well as the people.

Yep cant believe I ever smoked either Lai Embarassed not a good habit to have had.

Well I have moved all my tubs from the side of my house, tied my garden chairs to my garden table, and taken my feeders down. Everything is as secure as it can be. The wind has been dreadful and the down pours too in fact it has just chucked it down again. I do believe its going to be dreadful my connection keeps going off whilst im typing this which is a pain so it may be my last post this evening
Stay safe everyone and take care and im glad your mum and dad will be able to use their reservation another time PPH.

I hope we all survived safe and sound.

It was blowing a hooley here in the 'shires, about 30mph winds but that and the rain kept me awake all night. Very glad I took the bird feeders down

Not a problem here at all last night, lots of rain but not the gales you probably had in the south.  Having said that I haven't been into the woods yet.

Hope everyone stays safe and well today.

HI all

Well I survived and amazingly so did my fence, however, the storm was mahoosive here and this girl has had no sleep it was so awful. The damage here was a huge tree that was, yes was in front of my house came down like a bomb going off, I cant believe instead of falling forward on to my house or to the left onto my car, it went to the right and hit the house at the end of my little row of 4 houses. Thankfully it has not caused damage to their house, it is just a huge inconveninence and they are struggling to get in and out of their front door, how it didnt cause any damage I dont know as its huge and really went with a huge boom. Luckily they are both ok, I checked on them this morning before going off to work at 7.
So glad things have calmed down now and driving home was much better, going to work I was dodging other trees in the village that had come down and one huge flood. Tonight I am hoping for some sleep as we had very strong winds on Saturday night that kept me awake and then last night there was no way I was getting to sleep but Apart from the wind I think it was because I knew it was coming unlike 87 and I was a bit twitchy about and I was worried it would scare Nero and the cats. Anyway its all over now and we all live to tell the tale, even if it is with very bleary eyes.
Im glad everyone else is ok, thats a huge relief too.

Group Hug  Littlewid, good to know you and the furries are all safe and well and that your neighbours are fine after their scary night.  What an awful shock for them and how lucky no one was hurt.  Fingers crossed you all get a good nights sleep tonight and wake up to calm dry weather tomorrow.

affraid  That must have been so frightning LW for you, just told Mrs S, and we're both so glad your safe. Mrs S said there was a clip of a tree down on a railway line in West Sussex on the news this morning, so we wondered how you'd gone on. Thanfully all is OK with you. We got away with it a quiet night really. I would'nt bother with the pic posting if I were you, leave it till tomorrow when you've caught up on your sleep, I've had another couple of thoughts that might help

Oh my goodness LW :pale:you appear to have been rather lucky which I am delighted to hear.  That sounds like you and the rest of the village had some night affraid  Although your neighbours have been inconvenienced by your tree falling it certainly could have been a whole lot worse from what you have said, amazed there is not more damage.
Hope you manage to get a good nights sleep tonight, I'm sure you be out like a light SleepSleeping

Take care, Doogs Group Hug

Thanks guys, it was all a bit of a nightmare evening and im glad its all over. The tree is slowly being chopped up and then it just needs removing, luckily the young couple who live there are fine and so is their house. The flood has subsided and the trees in the road around the village gone. The trains are back to normal and everyone who lost power right through till this morning now all have power again, luckily we didnt loose power.
I hear that they are prediciting more strong winds for Fri, Sat and Sun.........affraid affraid affraid

Yep had a good nights sleep last night, so all good now Baton down the hatches 853843
