Distraught neighbours heard yelping from Manchester Dogs' Home kennels
30 firefighters on scene as hundreds of locals offered homes and blankets
Dog-lovers risked lives to run into the building and save 20 animals
'It's part of our childhoods. Of course we are going to run in there', one said

Oh my word this is terrible but could have been so much worse.
What a stupid, stupid boy to have done this, I hope he is dealt with appropriately

Re: Manchester Dogs Home
Doogs I read that through floods of tears and I hope with all my heart that boy is severely dealt with, he must have known what he was doing and the outcome it would have. You just can't imagine how terrified those poor dogs must have been, my heart is broken for them. I am overwhelmed by the support and help from the public and those two brave men who kicked in kennel doors to free so many dogs, they really do deserve a bravery award, they are real heros. I have donated to them, it can't bring those poor dogs back but it can help towards building a future for the remaining dogs.

Re: Manchester Dogs Home
We followed this last night, and through FB. We are both seething about what this idiot has done, and I'm afraid that because of his age, he will only get a slap on the wrist, and further more if his name gets out he will get a new indentity, and be rehomed. Which is more than can happen to those poor Dogs. Sadly I understand that the ones that were murdered (that's what it was) were the ones waiting to be rehomed. The only good to come out of this is the response of the public, £200,000 was raised over night, and hundreds turned up on the night with leads, collars, leads, cages, and blankets. I agree LW those two men really do deserve an award for what they bravely did releasing the number of Dogs they did, if it hadn't have been for them it would have been even worse than it is.
WS
PS Just had FB update up to 3 hrs ago the sum donated reached £759,000

Re: Manchester Dogs Home
This made me so sick, it is truly disgusting and those poor terrified dogs died needlessly. I would throw away the key and keep the stupid b****** locked up for year and years.
We've visited the home several times over the years and they do a great job so fingers crossed the donations keep flooding in and a new centre can be built. Their sister home near Warrington isn't very large so how on earth they are coping with all those extra dogs I can't imagine. As we already have 3 dogs we can't sadly take any more but I wish we could.

Re: Manchester Dogs Home
Good for Simon Cowell, I had a feeling he would donate some money and those guy's really do deserve a holiday and i'm sure Simon will be true to his word.
I have signed the petition to get DIY SOS to help rebuild the Manchester Dogs Home WS and I have also sent an email to Tony Hall. Here is what I have said.
Hello
As you may know, there is a petition to get DIY SOS to rebuild Manchester Dogs Home. I personally think this is a wonderful idea. So many kind souls have donated their money to help rebuild the home. This is going to be a mammoth task and I am sure with the help of DIY SOS this could happen really fast. I am sure all the trades in and around the area would give their time to help.
DIY SOS The Big Build has always focused on well deserving humans who need help, well now its the time of the animals. So many died needlessly in the fire and heaven knows what trauma the surviving dogs will carry with them for the rest of their lives. We need to secure their future and the future of other needy dogs. They give so much to us in our lives that surely you can change this from a human need program to a well deserving canine in need program.
It could be so hard to try and rebuild the home with getting all the trades together on an individual basis but using the success and love of the DIY SOS Big Build programme it could be turned around in a heart beat.
This fire has been an utter travesty, please use the power you have to turn this around for the dogs. They can’t ask for help themselves so I am asking for them, as I am sure many others are as well.
Thanking you in huge anticipation.
Sally Webster
Obviously I don't expect a reply as I am sure many others will send emails to his in box, lets just hope a collective of them will do the trick. We have to be honest here though, it would be fantastic if he just did it off his own back like all of us that have sent donations, emails and all the good kind souls who helped on the night of the fire, he may well have sent a donation but if he has any business sense, it would make for fantastic TV, so I don't mind what his motive is if he does it.......as long as the home gets rebuilt and quickly......it's the dogs that count here.
