Oh I reckon it's definiately going to be mega Lai, I am looking forward to it but also know it's going to be upsetting but I wouldn't miss Titus for the world so my tissues will surely be at the ready.

So sad! What going to happen to the little orphan that relied on Titus for protection? It is a wonderful insight into the life of Gorillas!

You will need them Lai, it's the whole build up that gets you, at the end I just and he was just one very special Gorilla. I wont say anything until you have watched it and I don't think WS has seen it yet either.

I have been watching this too and also shed a tear over Titus. I think Titus really helped to raise the awareness of the Mountain Gorilla.

Re: Last Mountain Gorillas
Ok Guys I've seen it tonight so you can open the flood gates. Thanks for staying
As regards Titus a passage of words comes to mind. The King is Dead Long Live the King. Through his offspring, and the memories we will all hold of his life, from the struggles early on, to becoming the greatest of Silver Backs

Re: Last Mountain Gorillas
Nicely put WS. I just find it hard that it was his son Rano (Umushikirano) that drove him to his death, the only consolation now is that the little group is beginning to accept him and i'm sure Rano will make a great leader if he is anything like his dad. it seems as though Gorilla life is a circle though as Titus was the same age, 17, when he challenged Beetsme who had looked after Titus since the age of five. It's just a real shame that little Ihumure, the little 4 year old orphan titus was looking after didn't survive.
I remember Titus taking his group to the top of the mountain, that they showed a little bit of in the 2nd part,he took them up there when he was unwell before, if I remember rightly he had pneumonia but recovered but they stayed up there for a long time and thats when some of his group split off.
What was heart warming to know is that Mountain Gorillas are increasing and they are now well protected and the research teams have such a dedication to them.
It was lovely at the end when they said another female Gorilla had joined the group, it will be so nice if the group rebuilds to the size it once was when Titus was at his prime.
I know the programme wasn't all about Titus but he was one very special Gorilla and always comes into my thoughts when thinking of the Mountain Gorilla's

Re: Last Mountain Gorillas
Yes I remember the episode at the top of the mountain it was shown in another programe a while ago. They stayed there for so long, that one of the Silver Backs in the group who had been challenging Titus went off, and most of the group followed him, but Titu's little group kept with him. It's strange how life is a circle, and now Ranu has done what Titus did years ago. I think the consolation is that rather then a Silver Back from outside taking over, it's one with Titus's genes. Lets hope he does as well as the grand old King
