If you’ve been watching the webcam today, you’ll know that the three chicks – including this morning’s new arrival – have enjoyed regular feeds throughout the day. After this morning’s Perch, 5R brought a very large Pike to the nest which kept his new family satisfied for much of the afternoon. Although very weak at first, the youngest chick – which only hatched this morning – has grown visibly stronger during the day and is now a match for its siblings at feeding time. Here’s the moment it received its first piece of fish from Mum earlier today; its the furthest left of the three chicks.

Those are two lovely clips WS, I love the first one of the chicks being fed and mum seemed to be feeding them all equally which was really lovely to see.

Thanks for that clip WS. All 3 look really well and ok I have to say it at this stage not the most beautiful birds in all the world but I am so pleased that they have all survived so far.

Manton Bay Osprey Chicks ready to fledge
We’re still waiting for the Manton Bay chicks to take their first flights. As they are the oldest of all the Rutland Osprey chicks this year they should be the first to fly
With this lovely hot weather they are most probably feeling as lethargic as the rest of us, this along with the lack of even a gentle breeze will perhaps have put them off today.The young birds will find it easier to make their maiden voyages if there is a bit of wind, it will just give them that extra boost and a bit of a lift once they leave the nest.[/color]
So for now at least, all three remain with their feet firmly on the ground. We might see them get a bit more active later on this afternoon and into the early evening as the temperature drops a little.
5R has been keeping busy and kept them supplied with fish; and the youngsters have been helping themselves whilst the Manton Bay female is away.

I had missed your other updates WS so in a way it's good to know they are still there and we may get to see them fledge yet. As they report though, they must be feeling the heat so wingercing is probably not on their agenda at the moment, far too hot  I must try and remember to keep an eye on this cam, I am terrible at forgetting
