Phoebe is rebuilding Sansa & Arya's nest, which I presume is named after baby's she's had previously. So it looks as though she's going for another brood
WS
Ps Just checked with the Guys on chat, and it's the nest used before Mary Jo & Woody's

After not checking the cam for a while I was just going to say lovely pictures of Phoebe and her little family, then that bombshell WS Sad that is just so sad but I am also so relieved that Phoebe is ok, that would have been just too devastating if anything had happened to her as well. She really does have a hard time doesn't she and it's at times like this that I don't like nature, it can be so very cruel.
It is wonderful that she is starting a new family and that the male is singing, hopefully Phoebe will soon have a new little family and all will go well this time, she is one tough little Hummingbird I love you

Some good news Guys, it looks as though one of the fledgelings may have survived. It's in the yard area, and Phoebe has been spotted feeding it, although she is still carrying on with the new nest for the next lot. It's really hard to spot the nest on the cam now as its pulled back from the bush where the nest is located, and Mr P who operates the Cam has had wrist surgery yesterday, and is unable to move it. This is a link to a photo of the nest position

Thanks for the update WS - and that's good news if one of the chicks survived and Phoebe is still feeding it. What a tough time Phoebe has.

We have missed a few of her chicks this year WS which is a shame, any news on the little one that survived the attack?
Good to see Phoebe on the nest again, obviously a good sign that she is going to lay more eggs......fingers crossed.

Lets hope the trellis works WS, I would hate for anything to happen to this egg, so good on Mr P.
Great pic of her egg, I have just had a look in but it's far to dark, need to check later this evening.

Well she is doing her best Doogs, Phoebe is on her nest incubating that egg right now.
Hummingbird cam - Phoebe - Page 5 Mwsna152
Phoebe has been doing a lot of wriggling and what looked like heavy breathing and her tail was wriggling quite a lot, I thought she was going to lay another egg but she has just left the nest and there is still only one egg.
Hummingbird cam - Phoebe - Page 5 Mwsna153
will try and look in on her later

She will lay another egg before the incubation starts, hatching should be 21 to 28 days from the laying egg

Brilliant that she has now laid her second egg WS, I knew she was up to something yesterday Very Happy a good shot of both the eggs there cheers lets hope the nest holds up with the duck tape, Phoebe continues to have some trials and tribulations doesn't she.
Looking at the position of the nest from your earlier photo really shows how small it is, I am sure the roses are bigger.

Lovely pictures Lai. She is a funny little thing isn't she, she never leaves the eggs for long does she, mind you after all her trials and tribulations with her eggs and chicks I really don't blame her.

Thanks for the pics Lai, she really starting to concentrate on incubating now. She was quite settled last night, different than the night before when she was on, and off like a Yo Yo, especialy when she saw another Hummer flying past, she soon saw it off
