Paul Kiru has posted a couple of pictures on FB of Shingo's cubs (apparently 4 males and 2 females). They are a year old this month and look in fantastic health, Shingo has done such an amazing job with them.

I know that Paul works out of the Intrepids Camp in the Masai Mara (this is the only camp we have stayed at) and I had said we were coming out in Sept, he asked for the exact dates. I'm very security conscious so privately sent him a message telling him the dates (don't want everyone on FB to know when I am out of the country !). He very kindly said to let him know nearer the time and he'll arrange for us to meet up at the Intrepids

That's brilliant news Doogs - won't that be fun to meet up, and get all the news and updates.

I've been admiring Paul's photos on FB too - they are just wonderful. Those cubs are simply gorgeous and look so fit and well.

Thanks for sharing Doogs.

Thats a brilliant update Doogs, thanks for posting the photos of Shingo, and the Cubs. She's done really well to bring them this far, lets hope they get through to adult hood. Great that your going to see Paul, and very wise on the security side

LW the photos were brilliant. I love catching animals in action and that's just what the cubs were.

Doogs it great you can meet up with Paul when you are at Intrepids. Maybe get a few photo tips to share!

I've been looking at Paul's photos as well, and its such a lovely picture of Shingo's 6 cubs. She has done so well to raise them. Fingers crossed for a bright future for them!! We need more cheetahs in the world, and hopefully the girls will take after their mum Very Happy

Unlike Lions and Leopards, Cheetah tend to not restrict themselves to an 'area', they wander about where there is food and probably where they think they will be safe. They can can cover a lot of ground in a day which can sometimes make it difficult to find them.

Lions and Leopard have their own territory which they pretty much stick to. For instance, Olive's territory (which was previously her mum Bella's) is right beside the camp we stay at (Mara Intrepids). We were lucky to see both Bella and Olive on our previous visits to the Mara

Oh I do hope so too Lai !!! How many days/nights are you at the Rekero ? We've got four nights at the Intrepids this year.

This is quite a long clip (taken from FB) but it does have some footage of baby giraffe, hippo, sleepy & mating lions, not for the sqeamish a black backed jackal and a kill but then from 5:21 onwards Shingo and her troop when they troop were little, great clip

We are five nights at Rekero after five nights at Sarara in the north (and a few extra nights in Nairobi at the beginning to sort out wedding paperwork) Laughing

Great find Doogs and it really gets you in the mood for Kenya ...........
