Snowdonia Trip Empty Snowdonia Trip

We decided yesterday, as Mrs S finished work early to have a run through Snowdonia. First we visited Llanberis ( literal translation The Parish of St Beris ), in the heart of Snowdonia. It lies, at the bottom of Snowdon, by
LLlyn(Lake) Padarn.

According to the Legend of King Arthur it was into this lake that he threw Excalibur, and his Knights, and Merlin are at rest in the Snowdonia Mountains awaiting the call of King Arthur when he returns.
Inside the Mountain above the Lake is the largest underground power station in Europe. There is a Visitor Centre at the bottom, it called Electric Mountain, and you can go on a train underground, around the Power Sation to see how it works. On the other side of the road from the Lake, and Visitor Center, is the Snowdon Railway that takes you to the top of Snowdon

You can just see one of the Trains waiting to load, and go up the Mountain over the head of the waiting passengers

The clouds looked a bit threatening, but fortunately the rain kept off

After coffee, and tea at the Visitor Centre, we then headed over the Llanberis Pass, into the Ogwen Valley into the Gwydyer Forest, unfortunately I was unable to take any photos of the Pass, and the views down into the Valleys, because of the number of visitors cars parked up, as there are limited spaces.
We the headed deep into the Gwydyr Forest in search of wildlife to photograph, and would you believe it. I got a photograph of one of the Planets most iconic animals

You the man WS - lovely photos and it looks like you had a good time in Snowdonia, despite the clouds looking very threatening.

Wales is such a beautiful place isn't it WS and Snowdonia is one of my favourite places. I have been to the place you went to but it was years ago with a friend of mine who comes from Wales.
The scenery is just stunning but I agree those clouds looked really threatening but i'm glad it stayed dry for you and Mrs S.
Did you do the train ride WS?

Doesn't that Legend make Llyn Padarn a more magical place.

Loving the Gorilla Very Happy I bet you were pleased he was sitting still whilst you took his picture........very oblidging of him lol! it is a magnificent statue isn't it.

Can't wait for the next installment bounce
