Am I alone in thinking these turbines aren't the answer?

No your not on your own TB. I know plenty of people who do'nt think they are the answer. They are spending billions of pounds of taxpayers money on an energy source that is not going to provide a guaranteed consant energy supply. The old power stations still have to be kept on standby using fossil fuel, as a back up. I just do'nt see the point of that, and think it's a waste of money, and rescources. Thats apart from the evironmental impact, that these Wind Farms have.
The next question is what the alternative ?

I don't honestly know, we need some source of energy and wind is natural but these turbines are horrendous and the impact on all bird life would be enormous.

As WS says what is the alternative? What about methane gas using animal waste? Okay so it's not on such a large scale but surely we can start using readily available resources.
