Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
This is 'Vertagus Elaine' (her racing name) known as April by the rescue centre and soon to be called ... ?
She was born in October 2006 is Irish and only raced 4 times. She's small and very chilled and has a bad foot but was very relaxed with us. We took her and Tamu for a walk up the lane and they were happy together, Tamu wasn't sure when we first arrived, so many dogs and smells to take in. They have 12 normally but are down to 8 at the moment. All of the dogs are very calm and soon stop barking and leaping around, they are also well fed and cared for which is lovely to see.
As you see she hopped into the car and was ready to come home with us
We are having our 'home check' Monday and all being well our new greyhound will stay from then onwards. We are both thrilled and really looking forward to giving her a forever home and Tamu a new friend.

Thats so lovely Lai and she is a beauty isn't she and brilliant that she and Tamu got on so well and Monday will be just a tick in the book, theres no way they would turn you, Pete and Tamu down. April is so beautiful and i'm looking forward to hearing what her new name will be.
Are you still planning on having Kip as well?
The pictures are really nice and they look so settled in the car together, it's looks as if April has been with you and Tamu forever, she really does look incredibly chilled.
I am so pleased for you all

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Oh yes for sure Littlewid, Princess Liz soon to be Kip is being visited by Tamu and hopefully April aka ...? on Wednesday afternoon. All being well and all 3 getting on she will join us mid July. The reason is she is far more excitable and we don't want to put her in kennels while we are in Shetland at the end of June beginning of July, we don't think that would be good for her, also the person who runs the place is away and July suits him better. To be honest we need to settle in one first with Tamu before taking another and are taking the easier (we feel) option with April.
She's fawn and white so I am thinking of new names for her - Karo, Maple ...... ? any suggestions please

Well done Lai & Pete, she is one lucky Dog to find her Forever Home with you both, and Tamu. It does look as though they both have been friends for ever. The only name I could come up with at this time of night is Libra, as she was born in October.

Tremendous news about the three of you and April. Those are just lovely pics Lai, and she certainly does look very much at home alongside Tamu
that the home check goes well, and also with your future endeavours with Kip

Safariman, all the best for your trip in Zambia by the Zambese. that you get some okay weather and don't always have to have a beanie on! We all look forward to your stories and photos when you return
Doogs, re love of '80's and '90's music, not sure that I ever went from a boy to a man But actually at work yesterday we had the old hits playing on the radio, and so were speaking a bit about old corny tunes and classics and so forth, as newbie seems rather old fashioned in her music taste I have listened to a couple of Huey Lewis classic recently on my Ipod, so bought up the song Happy To Be Stuck With You as arguably the most positive, smirk-inducing song ever, and she said this is her number one wedding song! And her second is Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship (who also had the bigger hit We Built This City), and I really love this song too. On my walkie yesterday it came on! It was so cool, because I really wanted to hear this song again, but had forgotten about this possibilty of it playing until it happened, so that made me But been listening to heaps of marvellous stuff lately, and there are lots of upcoming albums for me to look forward to, such as Jimmy Eat World, Emiliana Torrini, Miley Cyrus
And so forth

So pleased Princess Liz AKA Kip is also still on the list as long as April and Tamu get along with her which hopefully they will......Good luck for Wednesday and also for tomorrow although I think we know that the home visit will be a breeze.
Loving the name Rosie, thats a good choice. I thought that as she is fawn in colour, kind of Amber and Amber gives off a warm glow and I reckon she will bring a true glow to yours, Petes & Tamu's life I thought the name Amber may be quite nice.

Ooooooooooooooh yes, I love the name Amber, warm and very classy. A brilliant suggestion Littlewid, I will go and tell Pete, and perhaps we should save it for a 3rd greyhound ????
I will let you know about tomorrow and of course Wednesday - we are all very excited, okay well I am, I am not sure about Tamu

Love both those names Rosie, and Amber, well thought out LW. Good luck for tomorrow, although we know your not going to need it, and for wednesday to. We are going over to Nantwich tomorrow to see Mrs S's Sister, so I'll shout hello to Princess aka Kip, as we pass

Ooooh....it must be just about that time that you are having Rosie around for the home visit! Don't need to say best wishes, because I am already anticipating wonderful news (as per what you have already predicted, you have great ment )! So please let us hear about it all very soon Mrs Kipia
And I give my best wishes that the excitable Kip will restrain herself just enough so as to make a lasting positive impression on Wednesday
And then it will be mega ing time on the WAA!

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Rosie (we are saving Amber for another day and another dog) arrived at 12.30pm and we had our home visit. She was checking out every inch of the house the moment she came in, having already checked out the fenced areas of the garden with Tamu. They are both content and giving each other plenty of space. I think this is good for now, lots of time to get to know each other later.
Rosie is small but chunky, for which read overweight, I feel. I've already booked an appt with our vet tomorrow night for a check over, kennel cough and have the foot looked at. She's on antibiotics at the moment but I would still like it looked at.
So far all is calm and well
WS that's so funny, we'll be there with Kip aka Princess Liz on Wednesday so don't be taking her yourself

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Would'nt dream of it Lai. It did actualy cross my mind to call if we had time, although we did'nt, but I tried to find it on the Iternet last night, and could'nt. I found a place in the Wirral,
but no mention of one in Nantwich anywhere. I just wondered if people who are looking for a Greyhound might have the same problem, and the centre is missing opportunities ?.
Thats really good news that everything went so well with Rosie, and Tamu. Sounds like they will get on fine, and good idea to get your vet to do a full check up on her.
WS
Ps Found that Greyhound, and put it in British Pets/wildlife. There are some more on this link if you want to pick another instead, or as well as

WooHoo Rosie is home i'm so pleased all went well yesterday and things seem to be ok between Rosie and Tamu, I hope you have all had a good night and have a fun day today and fingers crossed all goes well at the vets this evening.
Only today to go and then Kip gets a visit from Tamu & Rosie, lets hope that all goes well and she can join the clan after your holidays it's all very exciting isn't it and i'm looking forward to lots of updates on the 3 Muskateers
I'm glad you liked the name Amber and maybe it will suit another Rescuee at later date.
Right must get a wriggle on for work. Have a good day everyone and lets hope that sun keeps shinning

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Thanks for that WS. I've put the link up for Kip aka Princess Liz, it's comes up under Cheshire Retired Greyhound Trust - but in this area we seem to have plenty.
http://cheshire.retiredgreyhounds.co.uk/
We had a good night with both Tamu and Rosie, as we weren't sure how they would be together we left the door open so they could roam the house and our bedroom. They were both brilliant and Pete let them out at 5.30am in case she isn't house trained. She leapt onto the bed afterwards, muddy feet and all
Only one disagreement last night at about 9.30 outside, Tamu wanted to play and then didn't when Rosie joined in, so a large growl and bark from Tamu. Rosie wasn't phased and can run faster We both feel sure they will be good friends once they get to know each other.
Enjoy the sunshine today everyone.

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Wonderful news on the new pooch front Lai, and rather amusing about the muddy feet! Good on you too for getting a vet check organised immediately
Last night I enjoyed a rather different walkie, as we had company for about ten minutes in the form of a small black dog that was about the size of Bella and probably even quicker! She kept hanging around us as she liked Leo (I assume it was a she ), but I could never get close enough to pat her. I am not sure if it was a stray dog or not, and maybe if I had managed to grab the pooch then I would have checked to see if it had a tag and stuff. After quite sometime we managed to 'escape' its clutches with quite a run, but it was a rather adorable little thing. We do loops on some walks, so where we left it was near where we found it.
I have a long weekend coming up which is great! And on Sunday night I have the exciting show Endeavour to watch (the young Inspector Morse) plus my favourite cyclist is racing starting on the weekend. I also might go to Werribee Zoo
I finally booked in to do last years tax today for June 13 after doing a scrounge around my messy house at lunchtime and managing to round up my annual payment statement and other thingys. Also have my car booked in to be fixed on June 18, so getting some stuff in order

GR - sounds like a fun walk with a new furry friend for Bella and Leo, let's hope he/she found their way home afterwards.
A long weekend, lucky you, although we have just had one so I shouldn't grumble Lots to look forward to with a visit to the zoo and the cycling, not sure what we are planning yet, it depends on how Tamu and Rosie are getting on
That's really GR. I am working at home this morning sorting out my tax return how weird is that? My car failed its MOT on Saturday but it's fixed now so I need to go and collect it sometime.
Thanks for the link WS - going for a look now

Loving all these greyhound images guys
Your pooches might always have their differences Lai, but I think that with dogs they hold no grudges. Or at least mine don't! It's very much forgive, forget and move on with Bella and Leo and their play fights
Nice to know that you're in the same boat as me regards the late doing of tax Mrs Kipia. Maybe it just means that we have too much stuff going on in our lives to get around to doing it

Good to know that Rosie and Tamu had a good first night with no real disagreements and as you say, as time goes by they will become good friends. How lovely that she wasn't phased by Tamus bark and growl.
Tomorrow is Princess Liz day isn't it, fingers crossed that all goes well and Kip will soon be joining your household. I'm looking forward to hearing how it all goes
Your long weekend sounds lovely GR and a trip to the zoo as well......more piccies
Oooo am I glad I dont have to do a tax return, what a headache they are, good luck Lai and GR.
Nero was at the vets yesterday, he was there the other week as he had a funny thing appear on his face just above his lip, this turned out to be a benign histocytoma which is going down thank heavens, then yesterday I noticed a sore spot on his face on the other side, so off to the vets last night and it turns out to be a kind of eczema that can happen in warm weather especially if the dog has a thick coat. So that was cleaned and we have steroid cream for that. it's not bothering him which is good and should clear up really quick.
Good luck with the car GR, hope all goes well and I must say, I am loving all the Greyhound smilies as well

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Sounds like Nero has really been in the wars LW but hopefully all has been sorted out now with your handsome boy
Which reminds me, how are you going with your back? Has there been a significant reduction in pain in recent weeks?
My upcoming weekend is a little busier than originally thought as was only reminded yesterday that I am off to the football on Friday night! There are eight of us going, so shall be a good crew, and I think I will get the train in and get on it as they say
Tomorrow I will make the usual journey to my folkies, and this time be even more of a burden than usual My washing machine has a significant leak now, so shall take some clothes to wash during the evening. So will need to organise to get this fixed at some stage, or get a new one. Other house issue (apart from how messy the place always is ) is the heater/aircon which I can't turn off It's like the battery has run out to turn it off, but wherever the battery is on the remote control appears a mystery! Well I worked out that I can turn off one switch at the power meter to take it off, though that also takes away the power from my laptop. So all in all everything is a bit makeshift at the moment.
Just as well I don't have a waterbed as I'm sure it would spring a leak any day now
I mentioned earlier in the year that I had gotten two dumbells for minor weights work. Well I stopped doing that for at least a month, but in last week or so have gotten back into it. I am so lazy though...I do like two or three minutes and that's it! But I am attempting to get into routine that everytime I go for walkies at night with the poochies I lift them for a short while, before and after. I will never achieve that aim, but if I aim for before AND after than I might at least do one session for each night walk Some sort of weird reverse psychology
It's almost time again. I will log off soon with the thought of, "Goooo Kip! Win Mr & Mrs Kipia's !"

She did, and we took Tamu and Rosie to meet her, Rosie and Kip were fine together they are after all and used to - Tamu was in a bit of a mood but she'll be fine. Ridgies do sulk
I've caught a vixen and a cub on the trail cam so will sort through and upload soon and will then put the trail cams back quickly as I can get a better angle of the den well one or two of the entrances.
