As you know, there is a decline in our lovely Hedgehogs and they do need protecting. This evening I was walking Nero when I came across a lady who I thought was lost, when I asked her if she was ok she said yes but I have just picked up this young hedgehog who was wandering in the road and then ran into this garage space with no escape or shelter. I asked her if she knew which garden it had come from so we could put it back but she had only seen it in the road and then in the garage space.
It was a young Hedgehog but big enough to have been weaned so it wasnt lost from its mum but it was in danger if we had just left him. Luckily I have a friend who rehabilitates poorly Hedgies and has years of experience with them and he also looks after Hedgies who have got into a little pickle like this one, so off we both went with Nero in tow to my friends, luckily he was in and he checked the little fellow over and he is in fine health and bright and alert, he was really sweet and very bright eyed, anyway he now has a wonderful home in my friends hedgehog friendly garden, that is safe and has a variety of hedgie house, food and friends if he wants them. My friend will look after him and when he is a wee bit bigger he will be free to go if he so wishes but I tell you this little fellow has landed on his feet. If he had been left to try and find wherever he had come from he may not have survived as it was quite a busy road in the village and it was dark so goodness knows what his fate might have been. Im just pleased he will be safe and will be able to be a bit bigger before he goes roaming if he chooses to do so. hedgehog

Big Group Hug  to you and the lady who found the little hedgehog, what a wonderful story and such great news that the hedgie is now safe in a friendly environment and will be ready for the winter and hibernation.

Well done to all of you Littlewid, that's a really heart warming story this morning.

Thank you Lai. He was such a little cutie there was no way we could have left him to his own devices and that road was far too busy. He really will be well looked after, my friend really does know what he is doing, so he will be one very happy Hedgie. It was nice to share some good news.

Me too Lai, there has been lots of very upsetting news at the moment and I know it has really upset you too. It has all been haunting me, so to help this young Hedgie was a delight and he was the first one I had seen in ages to, so the precious little fellow needed to be kept safe.

http://i73.servimg.c to the three of you LW for helping that little hedgehog  Quite honestly I'm not really surprised you helped him out in his hour of need but the bonus was your hedgehog expert friend. Sounds like this little lad is going to turn into a big lad soon in his hedgehog friendly garden.

Lovely story and big Group Hug to you all for your efforts cheers
