Scientists with the Census for Marine Life have estimated Earth has over 8.7 million species, about three quarters of them still unknown -- 6.5 million on land, 2.2 million in the seas and many, perhaps awaiting discovery underfoot in homes and yards.

Yes WS saw that yesterday also. We should look after the species we know about, sometimes I think what has not been discovered may be better staying that way.

Thanks SM & WS. Both good reads. It is nice when they discover a species we have not known before but I also agree with you SM and i've said it somewhere before, that undiscovered species are probably better off not being discovered. If you read the end of the article that WS posted the link for, it sounds as if they want to discover species only to know how they can be of benefit, not for the pure joy of discovering what is living on earth.
