TV Digital Switchover
Has anyone here had their TV service moved over to digital yet, this happened to our region yesterday and to be honest its been a bit of a nightmare. From getting the management company to changing over the aerial to suddenly losing half my digital channels when it happens to the so called help line not knowing what the problem is and having to find out yourself
So a helpful guide that people won't tell you
1) If you have a freeview box made before 2008 there is a small chance that it may not work after switchover (like mine) as they upgraded the digital network in summer 2008 and boxes made before then won't have compatible software and you'll need to get another one.
2) If you find after switchover that your aerial signal dramatically drops then try this and it makes the signal a lot better
i) remove aerial cable and do a rescan on your freeview box and it will find no channels
ii) after rescan has finished turn off the power to the box for at least a minute
iii) re attach aerial and turn on freeview box
iv) perform a rescan to pick up channels

Good advice PPH. We did'nt have that problem, as we have a Sky Dish, but I had to help a couple of friends who had the same trouble as you

the management company are connecting all our flats to the communal sat dish system next week so I think I will buy a freesat box once this has been done

Nice tip there PPH. I have sky HD and a digital TV so i'm ok but my mum has freeview and a non digital TV and we haven't switched over yet, so it will be useful to keep this thread in mind when she does, so thanks again......we could be resorting to this thread in the near future
