Right or Wrong
There is a debate going on following this story in the Telegraph, with memories of the Emperor still fresh from last year
Was David Webb right in his view to share his photograph of this magnificent Animals, or wrong by revealing the Animals existance, and putting it in danger.

Re: Right or Wrong
Thanks WS an interesting question.
Personally I would have kept quiet to protect the stag. But then I keep quiet about the deer we have in the woods, especially when there are young around, and I certainly wouldn't be admitting to having badgers if they decide to go ahead with a cull.

I agree with you LP - he looks so magnificent and I would definitely try to protect him rather than tell the whole world about him

Re: Right or Wrong
I'm sure the paper was the last to know, shooters,be they legal or illegal will be watching their quarry, all this article will do is raise the profile further afield to a wider audience, that with all the best intentions, won't know the circumstances of the last famous one to be shot.If it's head was mounted and sold or presented to a hotel,it would clearly have been taken legally.
I note the hotel concerned has now removed the trophy, bit late to react now as the beast has been eaten.
I don't condone cruelty, that's why I don't like coursing or chasing inedible animals on horse back.I do eat meat however and think that most "wild" food has probably had a better life and death than most farm reared animals.
