PBS Nature The White Lions

Hey guys, This was shown here a week or so ago. it is a documentary following a small sister pride of lions consisting of two adult lionesses and their four cubs, two of witch are white cubs. They have no male to protect them. Matimba, the lead lioness and mother of the two white cubs reminds me a lot of Red. Not because she looks like her but she acts like her. An excellent huntress, great mom, and fierce defender. The US link won't work in the UK but this one should. I highly recomend watching this if you get the chance. You will love it.

I really think you all would like this documentary. I've never seen some of the things in this anywhere else. It is almost an hour long so not for breaks during the day. I highly recomend finding the time, you won't regret it.

Ronnie I know you want to try to identify these Lions. A suggestion, try looking at Motswari Blog in World wildlife Blogs, and Updates. Motswari Game Reserve is in the Timbavati Region. Chad Cocking who does their Blog has some wonderful photos of some of the White Lions there.

Current Pride Composition: The Xakubasa pride currently consists of:

-2 large, tawny-coloured, adult females (born April 2004)

- three sub-adult lions; 1 young, tawny males (born April 2009) and 2 young, white lionesses (born May 2009). There are currently no pride males

You beat me to it WS. That is the same info I came up with as well for the sister pride. Seems it's way easier to get the info on lions than leopards!

The only reason I just got in first Ronnie was I had an advantage. I knew about Motswari, and I posted one of Chads pictures on the home page last year, and when I saw the start of the Video, it rang a bell. this was the photo I posted, its only a small one on here, but the original was stunning

I have now watched the White Lions put on by Ronnie, and it really is a classic wildlife movie, containing all the parts you would expect from a movie about two Lionesses raising their young cubs on their own without the protection of a Pride Male. You will love it, and we owe Ronnie, a big vote of thanks for finding this. There have been a few problems with the links UK side, but after Ronnie has invested a lot of effort, and time, the link now goes through You Tube so everyone will be able to watch it and enjoy it without any problem.

Hi Ronnie, I clicked on this yesterday evening, fairly late and it was buffering like mad and I knew at the time you were working like mad on it so it would be so great for us all to see.
I am off out this evening so time is a little tight for me today but I have made a huge promise to myself that tomorrow evening I am going to sit and watch this on full screen. So if my posting is less tomorrow and if anyone phones me i'm not in I need to watch this so we can all get chatting about it.

Aw shucks LW! I'm blushing! It was nothing. As much work as you guys put into making this forum what it is it seemed the least I could do. I also know when you get the chance to watch it you will really enjoy it. I couldn't wait Littlewid - I was up very early this morning and thought what a lovely way to start the day so have just watched it.

Ronnie you are a star for finding and posting - thanks so much. Absolutely wonderful, stunning scenery and footage not only of the beautiful lions but of so many animals, loved the red crested ? bird and it's mating dance!
