Mr Squirrel
Today I went for lunch with some friends. We went to Highdown, part of the South Downs and literally a few minutes up the road from me. The little cafe is always very busy and they have a lovely outside seating area and they are brilliant in the way they try and look after the birds and other wildlife around the area and their bird table is always piled with scrummy stuff for the birds.
Today though, the little visitor was a cute squirrel who was having rather a lovely lunch as well.
These pics are taken on my phone at full zoom, I couldnt get any closer otherwise he would have shot off, so this was the best I could do. After he had finished a little Blue Tit arrived but I didn't manage a shot of him.

Re: Mr Squirrel
Great photos Littlewid, looks like he was getting plenty to eat. Sounds like a great place and lovely that they feed birds as well.

Re: Mr Squirrel
Thanks Lai it is a lovely place to go and eat and sit and watch the wildlife. I posted a pic from here before with some birds and a little cat that was sleeping in the bushes whilst everyone was eating. It's also a lovely place to walk your dog as well as it's right on the South Downs and there is also a fantastic garden there as well but dogs are not allowed in the garden, although a couple of years ago Nero did go in there, I was walking with friends and we stupidly went in the exit not the entrance so we didn't see the signs.......we did get a few funny looks

Re: Mr Squirrel
Nice to see LW. I know it is a grey squirrel, but it is very red looking too.
We have one that loves to annoy and goad Jet at a safe distance from the tree off course, but Jet goes mad.

Great pics LW!
I
I also find that saying 'Mr' in front of something always makes me smile. Not with people though, as that would make me think of teachers
But Mr (insert any animal here) is very smirk-inducing :)

Re: Mr Squirrel
Glad you enjoyed Mr Squirrel GR and I know what you mean about smiling when an animal is called Mr, it always makes my heart glow a little
Greys are not native to us and they have been responsible for the decline of our Red Squirrels and that is rather upsetting, however, as an animal lover, it is not the greys fault so I cannot find myself liking or caring for one above the other, so to me all Squirrels are called Mr
I understand the teacher thing but to me Mr means Surgeon or Orthopaedic Surgeon and believe me, they can be as as Teachers

Re: Mr Squirrel
As well as 'Mr', I find that adding 'y' to anything makes it too. 'ish' can help also
My dad was a teacher, so I don't really dislike teachers
I read elsewhere that you have 4 squirrel types in Britain. Red, grey, brunette and black. Are they all native apart from the grey?

Adding y's ; ie's and ish's is something we do a lot GR !!!
Red sqirrels are native to the UK
Greys were brought here from North America in 1876
The first "official UK sighting" of a black squirrel was in 1912 in Bedfordshire.
The brunettes are a subtype of Britain's native red squirrel.

Re: Mr Squirrel
Yaaaay! I find that using the same vowel multiple times in a row can have a similar positive impact
Thanks for the info on the squirrel. It's amazing how many species are introduced to nations. Would this be as high as 30% of an animal population? I guess that it also depends on the country.
Anyhoo, I shall post more later :) Work beckons
