Giraffe Cam

WS and Littlewid. Autumn is certainly keeping us guessing.

So pleased you managed to get a look at Autumn Lai and thats a great picture
I have just checked and she is not in her stall, so she must be having a wander outside, although I cant see her, I bet she is still pregnant. I will have a check again later, but for now I am going to do an Autumn and getsome tea

Totaly both stalls are empty, and have been cleaned out. Checked on Earthcam FB Page. One comment 18Hrs ago was Autumns in labour, and aonther 16hrs ago was that the stalls were empty, But I checked the cam in between those times, and everything was normal

I'm now even more Just checked the Cam, again and everythings back to normal. Floors covered, and Autumns back in still pregnant, and walking around. :What:

Autumn has had her baby Giraffe I m not sure when, I just looked in and first all I could see was Autumns legs in the top left hand side of the stall, then I spotted a little blur in the bottom right and it was a baby Giraffe on a bed of straw, the picture is blurry as the cam is really focused on Autumns legs but she has had her baby at long last
For some reason my picture wont upload but believe me Autumn has had her calf and I am sure someone will get another picture today, shame I couldnt post one for you to see but i'm just pleased at long last we have a baby Giraffe to watch

The birth of Autumns baby

Great videos and Pic WS, lovely to see the birth I had a feeling when I looked in this morning the calf wasnt very old, I had a feeling it had just been born as it was still lying on the floor but then it started moving and got up. The cam was a bit blurry on it but its clear to see and the calf and Autumn were having a nuzzle. Autumn was very calm giving birth but it did make me smile afterwards when she was staring at it as if, what the hells that and also the giraffe on the other side was doing the same. Thanks again for the clips WS I will see if i can now post the pics from this morning when she was 40 mins old.
Here the calf was still a blob on the floor at 5.30am

Just lifting her head up but still unable to stand about 5.45 am

Just about 6am and she was nearly on her feet with the encourgement of Autumn

Apologies for the bad pictures but that was the quality of the cam this morning but that was the start of the little calfs life.....then I had to get to work which was a shame.

I'm sorry to say Guys there seems to be a problem. Autumn is not letting the little one feed. She just keeps walking round in circles, and wont let her suckle, every time it gets close she moves away. I was worried about this, this morning, but decided not to saying anything, as I thought it may resolve itself.
Just to show whats going on


They have shut the doors to try to keep Autumn closer to the baby, but it's not working up till now

That is really sad to watch. I said in my earlier post that Autumn looked at the calf as if to say what the hells that, she seemed totaly stunned as to how the calf got in there and that clip just shows she is not sure what to do or even understands the calf is hers, lets hope things change and soon.
At the moment the calf is sitting down on it's own and I cant see Autumn.

Dont know how long for, but Autumn stood while the little one fed. It was licking its lips after the feed

I think the babys full she's sat down there for the last twenty mins, and not moved. I think everything will be OK now, especialy if you watch this video. Autumn has'nt really bothered with her before, but you can see the difference here
