Who'll Love our Ducks
This is a hard one, do they repopulate or leave to nature?

A tricky one, first answer YES - help by introducing some females, but then you read on.
It's sad if no females appear and would be such a shame to have a pond with no ducks or duckings in the future.

I think they should leave it to nature, there must be a reason that no females have settled, and also the Ducks need to choose their own home, if there is to be any chance of them staying, and reproducing.

Surely if the lack of females continues the males may leave on their own accord to seek them out at a different location. I know it would be sad for the villagers if they go but that's nature and I think they should let nature take its course What will be will be.

These three should really see a Quack
Just move to a different pond! Geez, some move overseas for love. And I think that home is more where your heart is than where your house is - PP
That said, have they tried online ducking?
Well, I can't get any worse

Re: Who'll Love our Ducks
The article said that there were a lot of ducks there 10yrs ago, so maybe the question should be 'Why did they all leave and not come back?'
There must be a reason they left and not returned in the first place and there is no point re introducing female ducks if they don't want to be there and will fly away again.

Water off a s back WS
PPH, I agree that it should be left to nature. Individual ducks don't have a responsibility to frequent a particular pond just because some humans want to see them there.

True for sure, but somehow a village pond needs ducks
I am sure nature will find a way.

Re: Who'll Love our Ducks
I agree that if the females left of their own accord then there must be a reason and a reason why they have not returned. I m sure new females may someday find their way there and again there will be ducklings but I think that to place ducks there may not be the answer.
Maybe if an animal shelter nearby needed a place to set free some ducklings they had had to hand rear then maybe that would be a spot they could try but not sure placing adult ducks there would be the answer.
I do also agree though Lai that a village pond needs ducks otherwise it's not quite the same.
I wonder if these three males chased all the females away though, just a thought.
