BBC Springwatch 2013

Good news

Springwatch will be returning to your screens towards the end of May, hosted by Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games. We’ll have all the details next week.

News in March was dominated by the cold weather and its effects - lots on that to come in the shows. Early migrant arrivals have not fared well. Many spring flowers are late this year and the Woodland Trust finds that some bluebells are lagging by weeks.

The BTO report that by last week house martin, sand martin and swallows had pretty much caught up after a very slow start to their migration here. For early warblers it is a very different picture though. Chiffchaff, willow warbler and blackcap are all running about two weeks behind.

Thanks Lai, something to really look forward to. Our Swallows still have'nt arrived yet they had been here since early April last year

All quiet here too WS - although we don't get Swallows we do get House Martins - I guess we are several weeks behind previous years.

Got the afternoon series set for record thanks PPH.
A good start last night, I wondered how they would go on, because it poured down nearly all day here yesterday.

I've upgraded my Video recording from the free version, so it now includes sound, and other features when I get the hang of them, plus the name does'nt appear on the screen

WS - each time I try and watch the 2 clips I get stuck at 11 seconds and my whole system jams. I will try at home at lunchtime, perhaps my PC is on a go slow!

I have recorded the whole Springwatch series afternoon and evenings and last night watched both. The afternoon was absolutely wonderful. Old archive from Simon King with a full 45 minutes of totally amazing wildlife, superb commentary and filming. He really has such a passion and understanding and it was a great start to the series.

Last night's episode was wonderful, shame about the weather though, poor things out and about in the rain.

I won't say more in case anyone hasn't caught up - but loving the Buzzard cam Very Happy

2 great clips WS and I love it with the sound,, it really brings it to life Very Happy

Last nights show was brilliant and they did so well with the weather, its so great to have it back and I loved the city Otter I love you

can't wait for this evening but as I am home this evning I expect Splodge will be glued to the TV as usual with it, last night I had my sisters cats watching it, they all love it.

I must remember to set my sky for the afternoon shows, I forgot to do that when I got in last night. We really are getting a bumper package of Springwatch this time bounce

That rain was surely coming down WS and I felt really sorry for her. It was chucking it down this evening and she was still soaked. It just goes to show how tough our birds are.

I felt sorry for the mallard mum as well, she was getting soaking as well, I hope when they hatch she manages to get her chicks to the river.

So much stuff is going on and not all of it good, wont say incase others havent watched yet. But what about these males hitching a ride on the females......always new men had a lazy streak Very Happy
