Ringed Birds Empty Ringed Birds

Has anyone got any ideas on how to read a number off a ringed bird as I have a Robin that has a been ringed and I would like to see the number but it is always to fast and the numbers to small for me to read them

HI PPH
It can be very difficult to read the rings, unless the poor bird is dead. I have had a look for you and they suggest a Field Scope or Binoculars, if you don't have either of those the only suggestion I can make is to take a photo of the leg with the ring and enlarge the photo to see if you can read the number.

If you can get a Photo HPP, and put it on the Forum I will try to zoom it up, and see if the number is legible. Robins like to feed off a flat area on the ground, perhaps if you put some wild bird seed out in an area where you can get a photo it will stay long enough for you to take one. It usualy takes quite a few days untill the bird gets used to where the food is, and to feel confident enough thats it's safe to feed there so it proberbly wont happen straight away
