Incredible sight of the elephant that cried:

Raju was held in chains, beaten and abused for fifty years and on the day
he was released tears rolled down his face
Raju was held in chains for more than 50 years after being poached in India
The animal bled from spiked shackles and lived on hand-outs from tourists
Team from North London charity Wildlife SOS travelled to India to free animal
Raju cried tears of joy after being freed from suffering on American Independence Day
Five-and-a-half tonne animal driven 350 miles away to safe conservation area

That story brought tears of sadness for the abuse, and suffering Raju has had to put up with for 50yrs of his life, but also tears of joy of his happiness at being released. Thank heavens for the team, and officials that finally released him from his hell, I really hope he will enjoy his new found freedom, and be happy in the years he has left to him. God bless you Raju

No wonder he looks happy! Raju the crying elephant, who moved the world after being pictured in tears when he was freed from his chains, is welcomed to his new home - by five females
Raju had been captured and bound in chains for as long as 50 years
Was rescued in a daring midnight raid in June ago - and pictured crying
Has been given home in a sanctuary in Mathura, northern India, with friends
Was initially wary when introduced to five female companions
But soon warmed to them, now they plod around all day eating and bathing
All six elephants were once rescued - and are known as the Herd of Hope

That's brilliant Doogs what a great update thanks. It's so wonderful that Raju has at last found some happiness in his life after such a lifetime of misery, and is really content with his new female companions. You could really cry tears of happiness for him
