Extract from Cumberland News:

ONE of Tynedale’s most iconic birds of prey, the hen harrier, will become the hunted rather than the hunter next month.

For the much persecuted raptor will be the subject of a fact finding exercise in the North Tyne

A team of experts want to explore public attitudes to hen harriers, and how any future public activities relating to hen harriers in the area might be developed.

The consultation exercises are designed to find out if people know what hen harriers are, how they ‘relate’ to them, and to measure the level of interest in, and support for, future public engagement activities such as guided walks, viewing opportunities, education programmes, web-cams and interpretation materials.

As part of the process, a consultation evening will take place at the Bay Horse Inn, West Woodburn on Monday September 6, , between 7pm and 9.30pm, when tea and coffee will be provided. Email: henharrierconsultation-GEES@yahoo.co.uk

It will be interesting to hear the outcome.

It will definiately be good to hear the outcome, lets hope it is positive. It's a shame it's such a long way from here, it would be interesting to go and hear what is being said.
