It seems that the human race will never learn. The habitat that this rail link will go through, has been on a journey over at least hundreds of years, but we are willing to destroy it to save 20 mins on a journey. , and what are we raceing to, the end of our own life. So why not take the time to enjoy our own journey by making it last a little longer, and enjoying the view

I share your feelings WS, on the local midland news they are saying that if it goes ahead then it'll be quicker to get from Birmingham airport to central London that it is to get from Heathrow to central London meaning that lots more people will use Birmingham airport. How is this good news because that will mean that Birmingham airport will expand,
There is a village on the outskirts of Birmingham (can't remember the name) that already has the m6 toll and m42 either side of it and the proposal for the HS2 means they will be surrounded by a triangle on all three sides by the main HS2 routes and sidings.
The have coined a new acronysm NIMBYIFA which stands for Not In My Back Yard Its Full Already

Looks like it is back to the ever expanding technology versus environmental impact debate. Unfortunately we are seeing environmental impact being considered less and less in importance for the sake of progress.

Thats the problem SM. Is it progress, or what mankind perceives as progress
