This is a wonderful accounting of how tourists are affecting the Mara:

Sadly true in so many cases, some of the guides just don't care, it's all about the tourists 'getting the shot' the Mara is stunning with an abundance of wildlife but if you want peace and tranquility it is not the place to go you need to go north.

Jackson and many others are trying to keep checks on this and you are supposed to stick to the tracks not go across the savannah - the rangers are around to prevent this, but not enough of them.

It is sad to read just how bad it is getting.

It is really getting a problem, and just highlights what Kate Humble was saying in her artical. Whilst tourisam is a must, and so very important to Kenya, and the economy. It's also crucial to providing money for conservation, and protection of wildlife, but it looks as though it certainly needs regulating better

Sad that the Maasai are still hunting lions and grazing their cattle inside the reserve, but also I have to respect their cattle are their livelihood. Undoubtedly conservation outside the park as well is necessary. A shame to hear that wildlife in on the decline. As for poaching ........ that will never stop I fear.
