I dont know if any of you watched Wild Life Patrol last night, if you did you'll know the answer to this. I was amazed at how many different species of Crocodile there are anyone lke to have a guess how many. The ones in last nights programe were 4 West African Dwarf Crocodiles which I had'nt heard of before. I found this news report of where they were found.

We didn't see the programme but shame on the people who had those poor crocs - a fine is not good enough, I think all offenders should be made to help in someway not just fined or locked up, it doesn't deter them at all.

Crocs aren't my favourite reptile WS so I have no idea at all scratch

I Agree they are not one of my favourites either No I must confess to hoping they don't catch any Wildies or zebra when you see the river crossings which is pretty bad from an animal lover as I know they also have to eat Embarassed Embarassed

Had search re different species of Crocs and here's some info on them (as well as alligators & caimans)

Thanks for that Doogs. They are not one of my favourite animals either, but I think like the Hyenas, and Buzzards they are essential to the health of the eco system. I know they take the Animlas during the crossings, but there are a lot more that drown, and die. If it was'nt for the Crocs the rivers would become polluted, and that would affect all the wildlife. Nature does know what its doing when left alone. On the programe it said there were 23 different species of Crocodile. Will have to see if I can find them all, but thats a good start Doogs

Thats crazy! Crocodile Species 615959 Crocodile Species 615959

I remember a story that was told to me by my mum. My Uncle had an alligator, when we visited I was a toddler and my uncle told mum under no circumstances was I to be alone in the same room (the tank was in the living room). Anyway I survived the visit, but when the alligator had gotten to big for the tank it was donated to a Zoo (i think London). So apparently he got on the train carrying the alligator (not sure what in) and arrived at the door of the Zoo and handed it over.

Needless to say that was over 30 years ago. You wouldnt get away with that today.
