Thank you everyone. We had a fantastic time. I'll post the pictures as soon as I can. Have a fair few to go through. We do wish we had longer on safari and less at the beach ... a lesson learnt. Next time it'll just be safari!! I'm hooked, we both are infact.
Saw lots of elephants
The only animal that eluded us was the rhino. Next time!!

That was exactly our same thoughts when we returned from safari the first time AM - thereafter trips did not include sun, sea, sand & Dawa's - just lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, impala etc etc :)

We will definitely be the same. We desperately want to go back next year, its just so expensive. Have you ever been in February? We are thinking about bringing the costs down by going mid season.

It's so strange how captivating Kenya is - many, many people have been and as soon as they do they just want to go back, it's an amazing place.
Same here about wanting to go back next year :) A few people said to us November is a good time to go and it's out of season so won't be so dear. We've only ever been at the same time, beginning of Sept.
We're going to Australia next year (Ian's brother & sister-in-law are over there and he wants to visit them) but that won't be until December/January time. I've already enquired about prices in June to return to the Mara (seasonal prices change in July) to see if we can afford to do both Might have to plunge into the 'rainy day' money in order to do so

Captivating is the word! I don't want to go anywhere else. Might get a few quotes done for different times of year.
Australia sounds good to though one of my favourite countries

As a very non flyer - I'm dreading it but I know Ian really wants to go so I won't let him down. Thinking of a stop-over on the way but just coming straight home - once you're coming home you just wanna get there !!!
knew you would become hooked, it's just exactly how I feel about the place !!!

Good idea on the coming straight home, we stopped on the way back and really didn't like it. Just wanted to get home.
Chris hates flying too!! He found red wine helped - in fact the more the better!! Hehe!! How do you get on with the planes to the mara? The one we had going down there wasn't to bad, quite big, but the one from the mara to the beach was about 16 seats

Re: Welcome Back Anne-Marie
We flew with Safarilink which only have 13 seats All journeys were 'ok' (as far as flying in little aeroplanes are concerned ) until our flight back from the Mara to Nairobi. There was 6 of us on the plane, we dropped 2 at the Governors Strip so that left just the 4 of us (private charter ) to return to Nairobi. Well the sky was black and no sooner had we got in the air, the heavens opened with that heavy, heavy Mara rain I must confess I was terrified and the first thing I did was to burst out crying Thankfully the rain did not persist, the plane stopped bouncing about so much and I was able to calm down - slightly !!!! Can laugh about it now but it wasn't funny at the time

Our plane out was safarilink, it must have had 40 seats. When chris saw the plane we were leaving on he asked if we could get a taxi. I think I could have wet myself laughing if I couldn't see the fear on his face. I could imagine trying to hail a taxi in the middle of the marsh!! That must have been scary for you though. I wouldn't have liked that and I don't mind flying.

One of our waiters at the camp we stayed at (Intrepids) said he had to get 2 buses in order to get from the Mara to his house - what I wanted to know was where about did he get the first bus from
