Hi Donnie88 here,
I am a scaffolder on the Gannet Alpha Platform in the North Sea about 120 miles east of Aberdeen.
I watched an large Orca mother and calf beside the platform swimming around a diving vessel that was alongside us. This was about 4 or 5 months ago. I can find out the exact date by checking when the dive vessel was on station if anyone is interested. There are many witnesses to this event including the OIM [ Offshore Installation Manager]
This post was made in response to the story in todays sun.

Hi Donnie
That must have been fantastic to watch. I've tried checking todays Sun online, but could'nt find it. Do you know if any videos were posted about it ?. Also I wondered if you get any migrating Birds landing on the Platform. I know in ther past when we've had Autumnwatch on that ships at sea have reported in with news of Birds resting up on them
Thanks for letting us know about the Orca, and her Calf

Hi Donnie,

Thanks for the post. Mother Orca and Calf must have been brilliant to witness. We love this sort of account so we are very interested.

Hi Donnie88

Firstly I hope you don't mind me moving your topic to Marine Mammals, just thought it would sit better here and not be missed by others.

It would be great if you could post a link to the story as I too have searched it on line in the sun and also in their wildlife section and I can't find the story but would love to read about it.

Thanks a lot.
