Letters To Lions ?
Lions are in danger of extinction across Africa. Filmmakers and National Geographic Explorers-in-Residence Dereck and Beverly Joubert want you to help save lions! Write letters to lions and the Jouberts will deliver them to African leaders to let them know how important lions are to kids everywhere. And we may feature a few of them in a gallery on the National Geographic websites and in print!
How You Can Help:Don't forget to print a submission form and have your parent or guardian sign it.
Follow these four easy steps!
1
Ask your parents if you can write a letter to lions.
2Write a letter to lions telling them what they mean to you. Include drawings of lions if you want. Your letter should be no more than 250 words long and must be your original work.
3Print out, read the permission form, and ask your parents to sign it. We would like their permission to print the letters and drawings and feature some of them on our websites.
4Mail your letter, artwork, and signed form to:

Selection for publication will be at the discretion of the Jouberts and National Geographic Society. Submissions become the property of the National Geographic Society and the Big Cats Initiative and all rights are transferred to the NGS. Submissions cannot be acknowledged or returned.

Re: Letters To Lions ?
This sounds a good idea Simba, especially if it is something the Jouberts are behind as they are very well known and respected when it comes to lions.
Seems like the perfect thing for the likes of schools, youth clubs (so they still exist ?) to get involved in as possible 'projects'. It would also raise the profile of how endangered lions are becoming because I am sure many youngsters these days wouldn't have a clue.
Hope it is a success as we need to do everything possible to ensure good numbers of these wonderful animals in the wild
