Pretty amazing, interesting stuff WS - not sure I'll be able to tell the difference in their ages from their 'giggles' though scratch Definitely one for the specialists

I'm not sure how they work out the ages of a Hyena by it's giggle except they must know the ages of each Hyena and Hyenas of the same age have the same giggle pitch.
I suppose it does make sense that their giggles can be decoded, all animals must have their own communication just as we do, they don't just emit sound for the sake of it surely, so it makes sense that different tones mean different things but it's clever how they have worked out what each giggle means, very clever stuff and a good read WS.
