That all sounds really positive WS. It's good to read something where the farmers are trying to help preserve the cheetah rather than shoot them because they are on their farm land. Sounds as though the CCF are putting a lot of work into this and it really is wonderful to read.

Excellent stuff Anything that helps both man and animal is fine by me :) It certainly does sound as though the CCF are putting a lot into it which is great

That is great to hear and the actions introduced are very much just good common sense. Pity these principle are not adopted to protect other animals.

Re: Room for Cheetahs
One of the girls I work with is South African and she has just come back from visiting home. She said they are doing a lot to help protect the Cheetah and she visited a place, the name escapes me right now and she said the farmers are trying harder not to shoot the cheetah and most of them have the Anatole dogs to protect their cattle. There are also Cheetah Conservation Groups working with the farmers and things are improving. She was only there last year and apparantly the difference in attitudes within a year is amazing.
It's not everyones ideal but they are also doing meet the Cheetah, where you can go in with two keepers sit with the cheetah and take photo's and get some education on them. It's all part of raising the Cheetah profile and the living together of Cheetah and man.

Thats good news LW and nice to hear it from someone disconnected as such from any of the organisations or agencies.

This again can only be a step in the right direction as it's worrying how the Cheetah numbers seem to be on the decline - certainly in the Mara anyway
