One of the locals of Derwent Water.
I was laying down on the gravel to get this shot with folk walking past wondering what on earth I was doing............(I wonder some days too)

New quiz.....................how many "lakes" are there in the "Lake District"?

This was one obliging Black Headed Gull,I was able to practice the creep not crop principle and after about 4 minutes I was within 6 foot of this bird.

A more traditional view............(just noticed a mucky dot on the lens)

Lovely photos TB - I think the 'laying down on the gravel' was well worth the funny looks as that's a lovely picture of the Duck

I've no idea about the number of lakes in the LD - I'd have to cheat and google it which I won't do (yet) - will let some other more informed people have a try Cool

Great photos TB, and the low angle certainly works. I know the answer, to the question. It's one believe it or not, Thats, Bassenthwaite Lake all the other are known as Mere's, Waters, or Tarns. Mrs S went to the Lakes a couple of years ago with her Sister, and was told this by the tour guide

Loving the local and a picture that was well worth everyone wondering what you were up too, it's a great sot as is the one of the Gull, both lovely photo's.

Mmm I knew the answer to your first question, i've had a holiday in the lake district, it rained all the time but I loved it.

My brain has been trying to work out your second question but at the moment i've drawn a blank scratch

I love the lake district and lived in Keswick for 6 months many years ago

I answer to your question if I remember rightly there is only one lake in the lake district which is Bassenthwaite Lake. The rest are waters, tarns of reservoirs
