Predator Aware
Lion and Leopard Protection in the Masai Mara

"Wildland Conservation Trust is extremely concerned about the current trend in the decline in carnivore/predator populations in protected and other wildland habitats. This conservation project is targeted at wildland communities that have livestock keeping as their primary income source and want to attract tourism as an additional source of livelihood and income. Wildland Conservation Trust aims to enable livestock and wildlife to co-exist and predators to also thrive in these communities.

We believe by implementing this simple concept that the Maasai and other pastoralist people can better protect their livestock by day and night and communities can fully attract tourism by having a more natural balance of wildlife thus benefiting the communities in their two primary livelihood interests and income generators.

We believe that by involving the community wildlife scouts in conservation education and engaging them with livestock guardians and better bomas, this will go along way in balancing predator populations in wildland communities."

Their blog has wonderful updates on the animals and work they do:
